Former England captain Heather Knight has committed to playing her career despite taking up a position as general manager of London Spirit in The Hundred.
Knight, 35, will not feature on the field in the 2026 edition of the tournament and will instead support Spirit's sporting director Mo Bobat and women's head coach Jon Lewis. This decision comes after Knight finished a stint in the Women's Big Bash League with Sydney Thunder. She remains contracted to England and Somerset.
Knight stated that she is not retiring from cricket but turning her focus towards what might come next. "It's not me retiring or finishing playing, it's just me turning my head slightly towards what might come next," she said.
The role of general manager will see Knight offering knowledge of the women's game and providing an experienced voice during the tournament. She will not be involved in selection decisions, but will offer support to Bobat and Lewis.
Knight has a strong relationship with Spirit having led them to The Hundred title in 2024. This association, along with her previous experience as England captain and Somerset player, make her well-suited for this new role.
