I'm low-key worried about this whole situation but also kinda super stoked for Mark Thomson 
He's got some big shoes to fill and I gotta respect his optimism, even if it might seem like a bit of a gamble to switch off the LHC right now 
. The fact that he's hyped about the next 5 years of research and development is a major plus, and I'm all for exploring new discoveries

. They're shutting down the LHC already?! I mean, I know it needs some engineering work and all that, but five years is a long time, you know? It's like they're going to lose all the momentum we've built up over the past few decades 
. And then there's this new machine, the FCC... 15 billion Swiss francs?! Are they kidding me?! 
I don't think so. I mean, what even is the point of it? Shedding light on dark matter or whatever... it all just seems so vague to me
