I'm so glad people r actually thinkin bout gettin on dat ice lol but like, no one wants 2 be stuck in da middle of nowhere with nothin but ice & snow 4 miles around ... police are right 2 say stay off it, it's def not safe ... i mean, if u gotta go out, find a rink or somethin instead of puttin ur life at risk on da river ... and omg 20s temps for like 5 days straight? dat's crazy
Ice skating on Schuylkill River? No way ! I mean, I get it, it's kinda cool (pun intended) that the river is frozen over, but have you seen those ice conditions? They can change in a split second, and people are gonna end up slipping and sliding into the water. It's just not worth the risk . Plus, police are right to remind everyone that this is illegal for a reason. I've seen some crazy videos of people walking on thin ice before, but trust me, it's not as safe as it looks . The National Weather Service is predicting another cold snap next week, and I'm not sure I'd want to be out there when the temperatures plummet. Better safe than sorry, right?
I'm like totally stoked that Philly's Schuylkill River is frozen over ! It's so cool (get it?) to see people out on the ice, but I gotta agree with the cops - stay off the ice, fam! Those ice conditions can change super fast, and you don't wanna be that person who gets stuck or worse. Like, remember what happened in New Jersey? That officer didn't expect the ice to be so thin, and now he's got a crash course on ice safety . So yeah, let's all just chill (get it again?) and keep the ice for the polar bears, 'kay?
Ugh, I mean come on ! Can't people just follow the rules for once? I saw that video of some guy walking on the frozen river and I'm like "What's wrong with you?" The police are right, ice conditions can change so fast. And yeah, it's tempting to get out there and have some fun, but not worth risking your life over . I mean, I love Philly as much as the next person, but come on people! Be smart about this stuff. 4-5 inches of ice thickness is not a suggestion, it's a hard rule . And those poor kids who fell through the ice in New Jersey? No thanks . Just stay off the ice and let the pros handle it .
