The striker doing a Masters and a tale of two Chelsea youngsters | Five EFL stories ahead of the midweek matches

For Hull City striker Joe Gelhardt, confidence has been key to a stellar season so far. The 23-year-old's form has been impressive, with eight goals already this campaign, including six in his last seven matches. However, he credits his success not just to individual talent but also to the team's performance.

"I think it is a confidence thing," Gelhardt explains. "I am playing with good players who give me chances to score. How well we are doing helps attackers, and we are getting results. Being happy where I am and enjoying my time all adds to the goals."

Gelhardt has been open about his struggles in the past but has worked hard to improve. The striker attributes his confidence boost to his relationship with the fans, who have shown their support despite the team's ups and downs.

"The fans are massive," he says. "I have created a good bond with them, especially at home when they push us on. We want to repay them with results. I think we have already matched last season's home wins."

Gelhardt's impressive form has not gone unnoticed, and his Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month award is a testament to his hard work.

As for other Chelsea youngsters making waves in the EFL, Colby Bishop is currently pursuing a master's degree in Sport and Directorship. The 29-year-old Portsmouth striker believes that continuing his education will help him better understand the game and make informed decisions about his career.

"I'm doing a master's," he says, "and have been working hard to achieve my goal."

Dan Kemp, another Chelsea loanee, has had an exciting journey through different clubs and managers. The 26-year-old is currently playing for Stevenage in League One, but his dream remains to play at Stamford Bridge.

"It was what I always dreamed of," he recalls about his debut against Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup semi-final. "I couldn't have been happier. An evening game under the lights at Stamford Bridge. It was a special night."

In other EFL fixtures, Huddersfield Town will look to build on their recent form when they take on Luton in League One on Tuesday night. Meanwhile, Blackburn Rovers will face QPR in the Championship on Wednesday night.

I think its crazy how much of a difference having a good relationship with fans can make for these young players! Gelhardt's confidence is definitely boosted by knowing the fans have his back 🀝, and its awesome that he's paying it forward by wanting to repay them with results. But you know what would take it to the next level? If they started engaging more with their fans on socials... like sharing behind-the-scenes content or responding to comments! That would show fans they actually care about their support πŸ’¬.
