The Viral ‘DoorDash Girl’ Saga Unearthed a Nightmare for Black Creators

A DoorDash delivery driver, Livie Rose Henderson, posted a video on TikTok in October alleging that she was sexually assaulted by a customer while delivering food. The post sparked a firestorm of reactions, with many users making commentaries videos and spreading misinformation about Henderson's alleged victimhood.

However, some Black content creators, including Mirlie Larose, found themselves at the center of this controversy when their faces were used in AI-generated videos that falsely portrayed them as defending a customer accused of sexual assault. The videos were created by bot accounts and deepfakes, which used Larose's likeness without her consent.

The situation highlights an increasingly common form of digital blackface, where non-Black creators use AI-generated content to adopt racialized stereotypes of Black people online. This phenomenon is often referred to as "digital blackfishing."

Larose initially didn't feel compelled to comment on the situation publicly due to the sensitive nature of the allegations. However, after discovering her face in multiple bot accounts and AI-generated videos without her permission, she realized that something was amiss.

She noticed that the talking points used in these videos were eerily identical, suggesting that they may have been AI-generated. After reporting the accounts to TikTok, Larose found out that the company had denied her requests to remove the videos.

It wasn't until a more well-known Black creator, @notKHRIS, stitched the bot account's video with a warning about digital blackface that more people reported the page. Eventually, the account was removed from the app, but not before Larose received hundreds of messages expressing concern and anxiety over her face being used in these videos.

This incident highlights the need for greater accountability among Big Tech companies to prevent the spread of AI-generated content without consent. Yeshimabeit Milner, founder and CEO of Data for Black Lives, emphasizes that digital blackface is not only a form of entertainment but also a tool for social engineering and pushing specific political agendas.

In response to this issue, some Black content creators are taking legal action under "copyright infringement" against multiple bot pages. Professor Meredith Broussard suggests that content creators should be granted the same protections and safeguards as celebrities and copyrighted characters who have raised alarms about their likeness being used in AI videos without permission.

The Take It Down Act, signed into law in May 2025, criminalizes the distribution of nonconsensual intimate imagery, including AI-generated deepfakes. While this is a step in the right direction, Milner emphasizes that bigger intervention is needed to hold Big Tech companies truly accountable for preventing the spread of harmful content.

Ultimately, educating ourselves and taking collective action are crucial steps towards creating a more just and equitable online environment where consent and respect are paramount.

🤔 I'm all about supporting our Black creators, but this whole digital blackfishing thing is kinda wild 🤯. I mean, AI-generated videos that use someone's face without permission? That's low, fam 😒. It's like they're trying to own someone's identity and use it for whatever agenda they got 💸.

I'm glad Mirlie Larose spoke up about this, even if she didn't want to at first 🙏. And I love how @notKHRIS stitched that bot account's video with a warning about digital blackface 😂. That was some next-level activism right there 🔥.

But for real though, the fact that TikTok initially denied Larose's requests to remove those videos is wild 🤯. Like, what's going on over there? How can they not see the harm being done by these AI-generated vids? 💔

The Take It Down Act is a good start, but we gotta push for more 🚀. Data for Black Lives and Yeshimabeit Milner are speaking truth to power right now, and I'm here for it 👏.

We need more awareness about digital blackface and how it's used to spread misinformation and harm Black people online 💡. We gotta take a stand against this stuff and demand better from our tech companies 🚫. Let's keep pushing for accountability and creating a safer online space for everyone 🌟

OMG u guys I'm still reeling from this whole digital blackface situation 🤯 Like Livie Rose Henderson's story was already so triggering but then these Black creators got dragged into it without even knowing what was going on 😩 And can we talk about how messed up it is that TikTok didn't take down the accounts in time? I mean, data for black lives is low-key a lifesaver here 🙌 Professor Meredith Broussard's idea of granting copyright protections to creators is EVERYTHING 💡 We need more legislation like The Take It Down Act but let's be real we still got some way to go 🚀

🤝 This AI-generated digital blackface stuff is getting outta hand 🚨. It's like they're literally using someone's face to spread hate or propaganda without even asking 👀. And it's not just about the creators, but also how Big Tech companies respond (or don't) when we bring it up. It's time for them to take responsibility and make real changes 💻.

🤔 I don't think we should be relying on laws to solve this problem, like the Take It Down Act... 🙅‍♂️ But at the same time, I think it's really important that Big Tech companies take responsibility for policing their platforms and removing AI-generated content without consent. 💻 I mean, how hard is it to detect these things? 🤷‍♀️ And what about all the innocent creators like Mirlie Larose who get caught up in the middle of this mess because of their likeness being used in videos that aren't even made by them? 😩 It's just so frustrating... 🚫 But maybe, just maybe, we need to take a step back and think about why these bot accounts are making these videos in the first place. Is it just for entertainment or is there something more sinister going on? 🤔

omg i cant even handle this digital blackface stuff its like they think they can just use ppl's faces without permission or care what happens to them 🤯 and the fact that tiktok didnt do enough to remove these videos from @mirlie larose is wild like how are we supposed to believe her story when our own platform isnt protecting us? 💔 i think this take it down act might be a good start but its not just about the law, its about holding ppl accountable for their actions online 🤝 and yeshimabeit milner is low-key my hero for speaking truth to power 💖

I feel so bad for Mirlie Larose 😔. I mean, can you even imagine having your face used in those AI-generated videos without any regard for your feelings or boundaries? 🤯 It's like, totally not okay to be "borrowed" like that and have people making comments about you when you didn't even say anything. 🙅‍♀️ And I get why she wouldn't want to comment on it publicly, but still... 😕

I think the fact that TikTok couldn't remove those videos even after she reported them is wild. Like, what's going on there? Shouldn't they be doing more to protect their users' rights and prevent harassment? 🤔 But I guess that's just part of why we need laws like the Take It Down Act... 👮‍♀️

It's crazy how some people try to pass off digital blackface as "entertainment" or whatever, but it's actually a serious issue with real-life consequences for people who are targeted. 🤷‍♀️ We should all be super careful about how we use AI-generated content and make sure we're not perpetuating harm. 💡

Wow 💥 this is so messed up. Digital blackface is such a thing now and it's getting worse by the day. Like who uses someone's face without their permission in AI-generated videos? It's insane 🤯 How can we even start to call out these people when they're using deepfakes and other tricks to spread misinformation and propaganda online?

Interesting how some creators are taking a stand against this, like @notKHRIS and Mirlie Larose. They need to get more attention and support from the wider community 💬

omg, can u believe what's been going on with these AI-generated videos 🤯?! like, i know we're still trying to wrap our heads around the whole deepfake thing, but it's crazy how some people are using black faces without consent to defend a guy who allegedly assaulted livie rose henderson 🤕. and then, when mirlie larose found out her face was being used in these videos too (without her permission, btw), she was like "wait, what's going on here?!" 😱

anyway, this whole situation highlights the need for big tech companies to step up their game when it comes to stopping the spread of harmful content 🤝. i mean, yeshimabeit milner is totally right - digital blackface isn't just a form of entertainment, but also a tool for social engineering and pushing agendas 🚫.

and let's be real, the take it down act is a good start, but we need more 💪. like, professor meredith broussard is saying that content creators should have the same protections as celebrities who have spoken out about their likeness being used without permission - that's some next-level stuff 🤓.

but honestly, it all comes down to educating ourselves and taking collective action 🌟. we need to demand more from big tech companies and hold them accountable for preventing the spread of harmful content 🚫. can't we just have a safe online space where consent is paramount? 💕

🤯 this whole thing with digital blackface is wild - i mean, who knew that someone could just copy your face and voice without permission? 📹 like, what's next? gonna be AI-generated versions of our personalities too? 😂 anyway, seriously though, it's crazy how these bot accounts were able to spread misinformation about Mirlie Larose and others. it highlights the need for bigger accountability from big tech companies... like, if they're not doing enough to prevent this stuff, who is? 🤔 we need better safeguards in place so that people's likeness isn't being used without consent. 💯

Ugh, I'm so tired of these AI-generated videos 🤯! It's like, can't we just have one honest conversation without people trying to pass off fake footage as real? And it's not just the AI itself, but also how quickly TikTok just enables it by not taking down those accounts fast enough. Like, what kind of algorithm allows a bunch of identical talking points to just spread so quickly? 🤔 It's almost like they're trying to normalize this digital blackface stuff... I mean, I get why people are upset, but isn't it time we started holding Big Tech companies accountable for not doing better? 😬

🚨 this whole thing with digital blackface and AI-generated content is SO messed up 🤯 i mean, who's accountable for these bot accounts spreading misinformation? like, tiktok's supposed to be protecting its creators, but they're not doing enough to remove the videos without consent... it's like, basic human decency 💁‍♀️. and now more black creators are taking action, which is great, but we need BIG tech to step up their game 📈, you know? this whole take it down act thing is a start, but we need more concrete action from companies like tiktok and facebook... or else we're stuck in this mess of misinformation and digital blackface forever 😩

OMG what's going on with these deepfakes 🤯?! I'm literally shook by how easily fake videos can be created to defame people without them even knowing 🚨. Like, I get that some ppl might wanna create parody vids but when it comes down to AI-generated content without consent it's just plain creepy 😳. We need to hold Big Tech companies accountable for removing these bots ASAP ⏰! And btw, I'm so proud of Mirlie Larose and @notKHRIS for speaking out against this issue 🙌. It's not enough that we have laws in place like the Take It Down Act, we need more to be done to protect creators' rights 💁‍♀️💻

omg u guys I'm so disturbed by this latest digital blackface scandal 🤯 it's like how can people use someone else's face to spread hate or misinformation without even thinking about the consequences? Livie Rose Henderson and Mirlie Larose were already in a tough spot with their allegations, but then they got dragged into this mess where ppl used AI-generated videos to portray them as if they were supporting a customer who got accused of assault 🤷‍♀️ it's like, what even is the point of all this? isn't consent and respect kinda basic online? we need more accountability from Big Tech companies to stop this kind of thing from happening. Data for Black Lives founder Yeshimabeit Milner is right on point about digital blackface being a tool for social engineering 🚨

man, this digital blackface stuff is wild 🤯... like, i know we're all trying to push boundaries online, but using AI-generated content to adopt racialized stereotypes of Black people? that's just low 🔥. it's not just about the creator's consent either, it's about how these videos are being used to manipulate and gaslight people into thinking they're defending someone who committed a heinous crime 🚨.

and yeah, TikTok's response was pretty underwhelming too 😒... i mean, they should've taken action sooner. it's not like the creator just magically appeared in those videos or something 🙄. this whole situation highlights how far we still have to go in terms of holding Big Tech companies accountable for their role in spreading misinformation and harm online 💔.

but on a more positive note, i'm glad to see some Black content creators taking matters into their own hands by taking legal action against these bot pages 🤝. it's time for us all to take responsibility for our online actions (or lack thereof) and demand better from the companies we use 🔒.

lol i'm telling u, tiktok is like the ultimate hub for AI-generated drama 🤯 these bot accounts are like, so cleverly designed to spread false info and use people's faces without permission it's wild how many ppl got duped into supporting those customers who allegedly assaulted livie rose 🙅‍♀️ i mean, we all know what really goes on behind the scenes, right? the take it down act is a good start but imo, it's just a bandaid solution for a much bigger problem. like, have u seen these deepfakes that are going around? they're getting SO realistic 😳 and its not just tiktok, this is a global issue we need to be paying attention to.

🤦‍♀️ this whole thing with digital blackface is so messed up, like we're living in a sci-fi movie but it's real life 📺. AI-generated videos can spread misinformation so fast, it's crazy. And the fact that @MirlieLarose was targeted without her consent is just wrong 💔. I think TikTok and other platforms need to step up their game when it comes to removing these fake accounts ASAP ⏰.

I'm glad some Black creators are taking a stand against digital blackfishing, but we also need more systemic changes 🤝. I mean, if you're going to make it illegal under copyright infringement, then let's do it 💪. And Yeshimabeit Milner is totally right about social engineering and pushing agendas... it's not just about entertainment, it's about real harm ⚠️.

Educating ourselves about AI-generated content and its dangers is key 🔓, but we also need to hold these companies accountable 🤝. The Take It Down Act is a good start, but let's keep pushing for more 💪. We can do better, and we must do better for ourselves and for each other ❤️.

Ugh 😱 just read about this deepfake thingy on TikTok... some Black creator's face is being used in AI-generated vids without their permission 🤢 and it's causing so much anxiety for them... like, how can that even happen? 🤯 It's not just the creators who are affected, but also the people watching those vids 😕. We need to hold Big Tech companies accountable for this stuff 💔. I mean, they're supposed to protect their users, right? 🤷‍♀️ But instead, it seems like they're just letting it happen... 🙄 The Take It Down Act is a good start, but we need more 💪. We can't just sit back and let this digital blackfishing continue 🚫. Someone's gotta speak out against it 👊.

I'm getting really worried about the state of our digital world 🤯. I mean, who creates these bot accounts that use AI-generated videos to spread misinformation and digital blackface? It's like they're trying to take advantage of people's emotions for their own gain 💸. And what's even more disturbing is that some of these companies are just brushing it off and not doing enough to stop it 🤔. I think we need stricter regulations and better safeguards for content creators' rights 🚫. It's not fair that they have to deal with this stress and anxiety because of someone else's reckless behavior 😩. We should be holding Big Tech companies accountable for preventing the spread of these harmful videos, not just passing laws like The Take It Down Act 📝. Let's take a stand against digital blackface and make sure everyone is treated with respect online 💖.

this whole thing is wild 🤯 and honestly kinda disturbing... like I know TikTok should be doing more to police these bot accounts but it's also kinda easy for people to get caught up in the drama of it all without really thinking about the bigger picture 📺. and yeah i can see why Yeshimabeit Milner would say that digital blackface is a tool for social engineering... it's not just about the content itself, it's about who's behind it and what their intentions are 💭
