Things You Should Have Done series two review – the Bafta-winning comedy shows flashes of brilliance

"Things You Should Have Done: Series Two Review - A Quirky Comedy That Flashes Brilliance"

The second series of "Things You Should Have Done", a dry and quirky comedy about a recently bereaved stay-at-home daughter from middle England, has arrived on BBC Three. Created by Lucia Keskin, aka Chi with a C, the show has undergone a significant transformation since its first outing in 2024.

While the original premise was both heartbreaking and hilarious, the new series takes a different approach. Gone is Karen, the lovably cantankerous aunt who added to the show's humor and charm. Her absence is glaringly felt, particularly when it comes to the show's best scenes, which often revolved around Karen's scheming ways.

However, the loss of Karen has allowed the show to expand its cast, introducing new characters such as Bridget Christie, a therapist who capitalizes on Chi's grief and oversteps professional boundaries. The chemistry between Keskin and Christie is undeniable, with the latter adding a welcome sense of unpredictability to the series.

The supporting cast is equally impressive, with standout performances from Sarah Kendall and Juliet Cowan as Sarah Gilbeaux and Claudia, respectively. Kendall brings her trademark wit and charm to the role of Sarah, while Cowan's quirky portrayal of Claudia adds a delightful touch of whimsy to the show.

One of the most significant changes between series one and two is the shift in narrative structure. Gone is the loose list that drove the original premise, replaced by a more cohesive storyline that sees Chi receiving therapy sessions from Ruth. This change has resulted in a more streamlined and focused show, which occasionally feels less like a series of loosely connected sketches.

Despite this, "Things You Should Have Done" remains a quirky comedy that flashes brilliance at every turn. Keskin's performance as Chi is still perfectly gormless, with moments of humor and pathos that will keep you laughing and rooting for the lovable loser.

In short, if you enjoyed the original series, you'll likely find plenty to love in this new iteration. And even if you're not familiar with the show, "Things You Should Have Done" is a delightful comedy that's sure to put a smile on your face. Just be prepared for some unexpected surprises along the way – and maybe hold out hope that Karen will make a comeback someday.

I'm kinda mixed about this second series of "Things You Should Have Done". I mean, they changed up the format a bit, which is cool, but it felt like they lost some of the quirky charm from the first one. 🤔 The new character Bridget Christie was pretty great, though - her chemistry with Chi was on point! 👀 But at the same time, I kinda miss Karen... 😔 She added this weird energy to the show that made me laugh so hard. And what's up with the therapy sessions? It felt like it took away from some of the sketchy humor I loved in the first series 🤷‍♀️. Overall, still a great comedy, but I'm not sure if it's for everyone... 🤔

omg i totally agree w/ the review about series 2 of "Things You Should Have Done" 🤣 karen's absence is def felt, but the new cast is fire!!! 😂 bridget christie as chi's therapist tho? genius move by lucia keskin & co. can't wait to see what she comes up w/ next 👀

🤔 the BBC Three has done a great job revamping things, it's like they took all the quirky bits from series one and amplified them 🎉 but losing karen was a bummer, i mean who didn't love her sass? 🙄 still, bridget christie is awesome as chi's therapist, she brings this whole new level of energy to the show 💃🏻 sarah kendall and juliet cowan are also on point, their characters are so well written 🤩

I just finished watching this new series on BBC Three 📺 and I gotta say, it's still pretty funny! The main character Chi is so relatable and I love how she's not always right but you can't help but root for her 😂. They've added some new characters that are great, like Bridget Christie, and the chemistry between Chi and Ruth is crackin' 🤣. But, I do miss Karen a bit – she was always the best part of the show in my opinion. The writing's still spot on and it's like they're having conversations with you instead of just telling jokes 😊. Overall, if you liked the first series or are looking for something new to watch, this is definitely worth checking out 👍

omg i'm so stoked about series two of things you should have done 🤣 i was a bit worried they'd lose the magic of karen but instead it's like the show has leveled up its cast and characters - bridget christie is EVERYTHING 😂 and sarah kendall as sarah is pure gold 💁‍♀️ what really gets me though is how much better the narrative structure is now, feels so polished and refined compared to series one 🎉 but yeah, still got those quirky moments that'll have you LOLing and rooting for chi 🤗 fingers crossed karen will make a comeback tho, it's just not the same without her 😔

I'm soooo bummed that they killed off Karen already! I mean, I get it, change is good and all, but that lovable cantankerous aunt was the best part of the show! 🤷‍♀️ And now Bridget Christie is just...meh? Don't get me wrong, she's funny and all, but it's not the same as Karen's sass and charm. I'm gonna miss her so much! 😭 The new cast is alright, I guess, but they can't compare to the original dynamic. And what's up with the therapy sessions? It feels like they're trying to make Chi into some kind of actual person or something...nope, she's still just our lovable loser Chi 💁‍♀️🤣 I do love how the show has evolved, though - it's definitely more streamlined and focused now. But can we please bring back Karen?! 😭😭😭

I think what sets this series apart is how it expertly balances humor with genuine emotional depth 🤣. The show doesn't shy away from tackling tough subjects like grief, therapy sessions, and family dynamics, but it does so in a way that's both irreverent and empathetic. Chi Keskin's performance as the main character is absolutely brilliant - she brings this lovably awkward and relatable person to life with such ease 🌟. And I have to say, I'm loving the new additions to the cast, especially Bridget Christie! She adds a whole new level of unpredictability to the show, which keeps it feeling fresh and exciting 🔥. Of course, the loss of Karen is felt, but I think the show's writers did a great job of incorporating her character in meaningful ways throughout the series 💡. Overall, if you're looking for a comedy that'll keep you laughing and rooting for its lovable loser, "Things You Should Have Done" is the way to go 🎉.

im so glad they kept chi as the main character lol she's just too good at being awkward 🤣 but i gotta say, losing karen did change the vibe of the show a bit it felt more polished and less like random sketches. the new cast is great tho, especially bridget christie, she's just so extra and funny 💁‍♀️ but sometimes her character goes a bit too far into therapist territory 😂 overall i'm still loving this show, it's quirky and heartwarming in all the right ways ❤️

I just finished watching the new series of Things You Should Have Done 🤣👏 and I gotta say, it's even better than the first one! The cast is amazing, especially Bridget Christie as Chi's therapist - girl's got some serious sass 😂. But what really impressed me was how well they handled Karen's absence. It felt like they actually had to work for it instead of just phoning it in 👍. And I love how the narrative structure changed up the show - it's so much more streamlined now. The only thing that kept me from giving it 10/10 is that some episodes felt a bit disjointed, but overall, it's still one of my fave shows 📺💕

I've been binge-watching this quirky comedy show Things You Should Have Done 🤣 and I gotta say, Series Two is a total game-changer! They removed Karen, but added so many new characters that it's like a whole different cast 😂. The chemistry between Chi and Bridget is insane, and Sarah Kendall is just perfection as her character. And let's not forget about Juliet Cowan's Claudia - she's literally the coolest aunt I've ever seen 👵🤩.

I loved how they changed up the narrative structure too 📚. It makes the show feel more focused and less like a bunch of random sketches. And Chi's still got that lovable loser vibe going on, which is just the best 😂. Overall, if you're looking for a comedy that'll make you laugh and root for the characters, Things You Should Have Done is the way to go!

🤔 I'm loving the new direction of Things You Should Have Done! They took some risks by ditching Karen, but it's clear that the writers wanted to shake things up and explore new dynamics between Chi and the rest of the cast. Bridget Christie is a genius addition - her sassy therapist character brings so much energy to the show 💁‍♀️. I'm also loving how they're experimenting with different narrative structures now, it makes the show feel more cohesive and focused 📚. But what's up with no Karen? 🤷‍♀️ Is she really gone for good or will we see her come back in season 3? 🎉

omg i loved series 2 of things you should've done!!! 🤣 they really brought the laughs this time 'round, esp w/ bridget christie as chi's therapist lolol she was like the ultimate overstepper 😂 but i gotta say, karen's absence was def felt (not a fan of them removin her from the show tho idk why) 🤔 they did great w/ new chars tho & sarah kendall is still hella funny as sarah Gilbeaux 👍 overall, keskin's performance as chi is still on point & this series has some real gems 🤩 just be prepared for some wacky moments & unpredictable twists 😂

the show has come a long way since season one 🤩, i mean lucia keskin has done an amazing job of balancing out chi's awkwardness with some really great supporting characters 😂, like bridget christie, she brings this whole new energy to the show. and i love how they've taken away that loose list thingy and just gone for a more cohesive storyline 📚, it makes it feel more streamlined and less scattered than before.

anyway, i think they really need to bring back karen lol, who wouldn't want more of her cantankerous humor 😂, but overall, season two is definitely an improvement over the first one. keskin's performance as chi is still top notch, and the whole cast just clicks 💯, so yeah, if you liked the original, you'll probably love this new season 🤔

😊 I'm loving how much more confident the show has become in its storytelling since series one. The new format is really working, and I think it's great they're pushing the boundaries of what Chi's character can get up to. But what I'd love to see even more is some growth from Bridget Christie's character - her scenes are always my fave, but sometimes feel a bit like she's just there for comedic relief 🤔. Karen's absence is definitely felt, though... does anyone think we'll see her return in future episodes? 🤗

idk why they ditched karen tho 🤷‍♀️ she was like the glue holding the show together. now it just feels kinda... bland 😐 i mean, don't get me wrong, the new cast is cool and all, but without karen's schemes, it's just not the same energy. and what's up with bridget christie being a therapist? that's just too much 🙅‍♀️ also, they changed the narrative structure way too much. i liked the loose list format better. but hey, if you're into quirky comedies, this one might be alright 👀

I'm so worried about climate change 🌪️... just saw a report that global sea levels have risen by 10cm in the past year alone, causing widespread flooding in coastal cities. It's like we're running out of time to act on this issue 😩. And did you hear about the new study that reveals the world has lost nearly 40% of its biodiversity since the 1970s? 🐰😔

I just finished binge-watching series two of "Things You Should Have Done" 🤣 and I'm still reeling from how much my feelings are all over the place 😂. The show's quirky charm has only grown stronger, but it's like they took everything that worked in the first series and amplified it, only to then rip out one of its most iconic characters - Karen 💔. It's weird because she was so lovable, you'd think her absence would be felt more. But at the same time, introducing new characters has brought a fresh energy to the show 🌈. I'm loving how Chi and Bridget Christie are playing off each other, it's like they're having a private conversation 🤫. The supporting cast is also on point, especially Sarah Kendall as Sarah Gilbeaux - she's like a wicked sister to Chi 🤣. Overall, series two has improved upon the original, but I do miss Karen 😔. Maybe she'll make a comeback in season three? Fingers crossed 💕!

😊 i think the changes in this new series of 'things you should have done' are actually a major strength - it's like they're saying 'we can do more with this quirky comedy thing!' 💡 by introducing new characters and shifting up the narrative structure, it keeps things fresh and exciting. plus, chi's performance is still spot on 🙌 and the supporting cast is top notch 👏 karen might be gone, but i'm sure she'll make a comeback someday 😉 and in the meantime, i'm all about getting to know bridget christie's character - that therapist vibe is so interesting 🤔

omg I just watched the first ep and I'm HOOKED 🤣 Chi with a C is a genius writer and actress, but they really missed Karen last ep was so cringeworthy lol didn't think it would take me to laugh as hard as it did tho, love how they introduced new characters tho especially Bridget Christie she's hilarious 💁‍♀️ Sarah Kendall and Juliet Cowan are amazing too, can't wait to see what happens next 🤔
