Things You Should Have Done series two review – the Bafta-winning comedy shows flashes of brilliance

"Things You Should Have Done" has always been a comedy with a hint of sadness, but in its second series, it takes a drastic turn. Gone is the quirky charm that made it stand out, and instead, we're left with a show that's almost unrecognizable.

The premise remains the same: Chi, a dry-witted "stay-at-home daughter" from middle England, navigates life without her parents after their untimely deaths. But this time around, things are different. The lovable Karen is gone, and in her place, we meet Ruth, a therapist with a questionable bedside manner.

The new dynamic between Chi and Ruth adds an extra layer of tension to the show. While Chi's antics are still as offbeat as ever, the introduction of a professional with a penchant for overstepping boundaries raises some eyebrows. The line between therapy and chaos is blurred, making it difficult to separate what's real from what's just part of the show.

One of the standout aspects of "Things You Should Have Done" has always been its quirky cast of characters, but in series two, they're still somewhat one-dimensional. Bridget Christie shines as Ruth, but even she can't elevate the show when faced with such weak writing. The return of Sarah Kendall and Juliet Cowan brings some much-needed levity to the proceedings, particularly in their scenes together.

Despite its flaws, "Things You Should Have Done" remains a show that's not afraid to be silly or outrageous. A recent episode features Chi dooking herself in the face as part of a heated argument with her aunt's replacement – and it's still laugh-out-loud funny.

It's clear that the writers are trying to reinvent the show, making it more of a traditional comedy rather than its offbeat predecessor. The result is a program that's both bewildering and fascinating. While it may not be for everyone, fans of the show will find plenty to enjoy here.

Ultimately, "Things You Should Have Done" is still a show about a young woman navigating life without her parents, but this time around, it feels like two different shows fighting for attention. With flashes of brilliance and some truly unforgettable moments, it's worth sticking with this strange, wonderful ride.

I'm so done with these creators trying to "reinvent" the show! 🙄 They're basically throwing out what made it work in the first place and just churning out whatever bland sitcom nonsense they can get away with. I mean, who thought it was a good idea to replace Karen with some therapist character? It's like they took all the quirks that made Chi so lovable and just... erased them.

And don't even get me started on the writing. I've seen high schoolers write better dialogue than this! 😒 Bridget Christie is talented, no doubt about it, but she can't carry an entire show by herself when the rest of it is so weak. The whole thing just feels like a mess, and I'm not even sure what they're going for anymore. It's like they lost all sense of what made this show unique in the first place.

Still, I gotta admit, some of those scenes with Sarah Kendall and Juliet Cowan are pretty funny... I guess that's still the show's saving grace? 🤷‍♀️

I'm kinda confused about the new direction of "Things You Should Have Done" 🤔👀 The show was always a bit quirky, but now it feels like they're trying to tone it down a bit too much? I mean, Ruth's character is cool and all, but she's not as weird as Karen, you know? It's like the writers are trying to appeal to a different audience or something. 🤷‍♀️ But at the same time, the show still has its moments - that one episode where Chi does herself in the face was hilarious 😂! And Bridget Christie is always on point as Ruth. Maybe it's just me, but I think they should've left some of the weirdness intact? 🤷‍♂️ Anyway, fans of the show will still probably enjoy it, I guess... 👍

idk what happened to the quirky charm they had in series one 🤔📺... i mean chi is still her awesome self but everything else feels off 🤷‍♀️👀 ruth is cool and all but the writing just isn't there 💔😂 like bridget christie is trying so hard with her character but it's not enough to save the show 🤣... on a positive note tho sarah kendall and juliet cowan are still hilarious 😂🤣

I'M SO OVER THE CHANGE IN DIRECTORSHIP FOR THIS SHOW!!! THEY CHANGED UP THE CAST AND IT FEELS LIKE A WHOLE DIFFERENT SHOW NOW 🤯👀 the dynamic between Chi and Ruth is already giving me LIFE 💁‍♀️, but the writing is just so...meh 😐. I mean, i loved Karen's sassiness but this new character Ruth is kinda boring 😴. AND BRIDGET CHRISTIE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN SAVE THIS SHOW 🤩

I'm so over the changes they made to "Things You Should Have Done" 🙄 The original charm is GONE and now it's just a weird therapy show 😂. I mean, what happened to Karen? Bridget Christie is trying her best but even she can't save this mess 🤷‍♀️. And don't even get me started on the writing... or lack thereof 💔. The show needs to go back to its quirky roots and stop trying to be so traditional 😴. But hey, if you're a fan of awkward therapy sessions and weird humor, I guess it's still worth checking out 🤪

Wow 😂 the new dynamic between Chi and Ruth is so wild 🤪 how did they expect us to handle a therapist with questionable bedside manners? Interesting 👀 but I guess that's what makes them try new things right? The show still has its moments though, especially when those cast members shine 💁‍♀️ like Bridget Christie.

OMG u guys I just finished watching the new season of "Things You Should Have Done" 🤣💁‍♀️ and I'm literally torn about it? Like what happened to Chi's quirky charm?! It feels so different now with Ruth the therapist being all overbearing 🤦‍♀️. Bridget Christie is still tho though 💁‍♀️, she's like the only one who can bring some depth to that weird show. But I gotta say, that episode where Chi dooks herself in the face is literally LOL 😂 I need more of that kind of weirdness! My mom just found out about this new season and she's like "what's wrong with it?" 🙄 I'm like, mum, you have to watch it for yourself lol 😜

I'm really not sure what to make of the second series of "Things You Should Have Done" 🤔... I mean, I loved the quirky charm in the first series, but this one feels like they're trying too hard to be funny and it just comes across as forced 😅. The new character Ruth is definitely an interesting addition, though - Bridget Christie brings a lot of energy to the role 💁‍♀️. But overall, I think the show's lost that special something that made me laugh out loud in the first place 🤷‍♂️. Still, there are some great moments and the return of Sarah Kendall and Juliet Cowan is always a highlight 🎉. Maybe they'll find their footing again, but for now, it's just a bit of a mixed bag 🤯.

I think the writers are trying to take some risks with the new direction of the show 🤔. I mean, introducing a therapist with a questionable bedside manner is definitely a bold move. It's like they're trying to make a point about how mental health should be approached, but maybe not entirely in line with what we expect from a comedy 😅. Still, Bridget Christie brings so much energy to the role of Ruth, and her scenes with Sarah Kendall and Juliet Cowan are always highlights. I'm just hoping they can find a way to balance the tone without making it too jarring 🤞

😒 I'm so disappointed in the second series of "Things You Should Have Done" 🤦‍♀️! The quirky charm that made me fall in love with Chi is gone, and what's left is just a mess 😂. They're trying to change the show's tone, but it feels like they've lost their unique voice 💔. Bridget Christie as Ruth is definitely a highlight, but even she can't save this show from its weak writing 🤷‍♀️. I'm still laughing out loud at some of the episodes, especially the one with Chi dooking herself in the face 😂👀, but overall it feels like they're trying too hard to reinvent the show and it's just not working for me 😕

I'm loving the dramatic shift in "Things You Should Have Done" season 2 🤯💥. It's like they're trying to out-weird each other 😂. The new dynamic between Chi and Ruth is so intense! I need more of that awkward therapy session tension 🤝. Bridget Christie is still on fire as the quirky therapist, but I wish they'd given her more to work with – the writing feels a bit flat at times 📝.

Still, it's amazing how they can make me laugh and cringe at the same time 😂🤯. Chi's antics are still so offbeat and hilarious, and Sarah Kendall and Juliet Cowan bring their A-game as always 👏. Maybe this season is an experiment in reinventing the show? It's definitely working for fans like me 🙌. If you're a fan of the original, I'd say give it another try – there are some real winners here 🤩.

I think the writers are trying to reinvent the show, making it more of a traditional comedy 🤔💡 but I'm not sure if they've lost that quirky charm 😂👀 it still has some funny moments especially when Sarah Kendall and Juliet Cowan are on screen 🤣👯‍♀️

Im so confused about the new direction of "Things You Should Have Done" 🤯 It felt like they lost that special quirkiness that made it stand out in the first place. The addition of Ruth is interesting, but sometimes I feel like she's just overstepping boundaries for the sake of drama 😬. Meanwhile, the rest of the cast is still shining, especially Bridget Christie as Ruth 🙌. The show is still funny and unpredictable, but it's like they're trying to appeal to a different audience now? Still, fans will probably find enough to love here 💖

I'm not sure what to make of the second series of "Things You Should Have Done" 🤔. I mean, I still enjoy watching Chi's antics and Bridget Christie's Ruth is always a highlight, but the rest of the show feels like it's lost its quirky charm 🎉. The new dynamic between Chi and Ruth does add some tension, but it also makes me wonder if the show is trying to be too serious for its own good 😒. I miss Karen, honestly - she was part of what made the show so unique 👋. The writing could definitely use a bit more work, but when it does click, it's still laugh-out-loud funny 🤣. Overall, I'll keep watching, but with some reservations 💯.

I remember watching "Things You Should Have Done" back in the day and loving its quirky charm 🤣. I mean, who wouldn't laugh at Chi's antics? But now, it feels like they're trying too hard to be a traditional comedy and it just doesn't quite work 😐. The new character Ruth is a bit of a letdown, and the writing could use some improvement. Still, Bridget Christie is amazing as her and Sarah Kendall and Juliet Cowan bring the funny 🤣. It's like they're trying to reinvent the show, but it's still got that weird magic that made it so lovable in the first place 🔮. I'm gonna stick with it, just for the laughs 😂.

i'm not sure what's up with the new direction of "Things You Should Have Done" 🤔, but i'm still here for chi's antics 😂. the addition of ruth as a therapist is weird, tbh, and it kinda throws off the whole vibe of the show. but bridget christie is fire 💁‍♀️ and she makes the most of her character. the chemistry between sarah kendall and juliet cowan is still on point 🤩, so that's a plus. overall, it's still funny, but not as quirky as i loved in season 1 😐.

🤔 It's defo not the same vibe as season one 🌪️. They're tryin' to go more traditional comedy but it just don't feel the same 😐. Bridget Christie is still a star 🌟, but Ruth's character feels kinda...off 💁‍♀️. The writing's weak and it makes it hard to tell what's real and what's just part of the show 🤯. But, I gotta give 'em props for keepin' it silly 😂👀

I'm still trying to get used to the new dynamic between Chi and Ruth 🤔... I mean, I love Bridget Christie as an actress, but even she can't save the show from some really questionable writing decisions 😐. And don't even get me started on the lack of Karen - that character was so quirky and lovable, I don't know how they could replace her without losing the essence of the show 🤷‍♀️. Still, the recent episode with Chi dooking herself in the face had me laughing out loud 😂... I guess that's what keeps me coming back for more!

omg what happened to chi 🤣 i love the quirky charm they had in the first series, now its all about the therapist drama lol ruth is def a game changer though 😂 and bridget christie is just amazing as usual. but at the same time, im not feeling the writing as much this season its like they're trying too hard to make it more "comedy" 🤷‍♀️ and what happened to karen? 🤔 idk man, im still gonna keep watching tho because chi is still hilarious and sarah kendall and juliet cowan are always a highlight 💕
