A woman who answered a reporter's phone at the establishment hung up on them, raising questions about whether the establishment was aware of or involved in the incident. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, with police investigating potential connections to local gang activity.
As a result, the CTA temporarily rerouted #12 Roosevelt buses in both directions due to police activity near Roosevelt/Western. Westbound buses operated via a detour involving Roosevelt, Damen, Taylor, and Western before resuming their regular route on Roosevelt.
With the investigation underway, police are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward. The community is left shaken by this senseless act of violence, leaving many questions unanswered.
