Today’s NYT Strands Hints, Spangram, Answers: Sunday, November 23 (Sweet Tooth)

For the Ivy League-themed Strands puzzle, each day we're given a new grid with words to uncover that fit a specific theme. The twist? A spangram that spans two sides of the board, offering additional clues about today's theme.

To get started, take a look at the first two letters of each word:

These hints might help you figure out the words. And remember, spoilers ahead!

The completed list of answers includes: NERDS, STARBURST, RUNT-S, WHATCHAMACALLIT, DOTS, and CANDY AISLE.

To be honest, I stumbled upon STARBURST first, despite it being the second longest word in this puzzle. The tricky one, however, was WHATCHAMACALLIT. After trying ICALLITCANDY as a clue for the spangram, the CALLIT ended up giving me a hint.

I just finished the Ivy League-themed Strands puzzle 🤔 and I gotta say it was pretty challenging! The spangram clue really helped me out though - using ICALLITCANDY as a starting point for WHATCHAMACALLIT was pure genius 💡. I totally agree that STARBURST is an easier one to start with, but once you figure out the longer words, it's all about finding connections between them 🔗. What really threw me off was RUNT-S - I was trying to spell it as RUNTYS and got totally stuck 🙄. In the end, it paid off though and I was able to solve it! Now I'm craving some Starburst like you 😋.
 
I think this puzzle was way too easy 😴👀 I mean, who needs a spangram when you've got words like STARBURST just staring at you? And don't even get me started on ICALLITCANDY - it's like the answer was written in plain sight 🙄. I'm not impressed by this puzzle at all, and I think you're being too generous with your "moderately tough" label 😒. Give me a real challenge any day! 💪
 
omg I just figured out the last word 🤩 it was so hard but I loved the challenge! I'm not a big fan of chocolate but after solving this puzzle I kinda developed an appetite for it lol. I saw your tweet about struggling with WHATCHAMACALLIT and ICALLITCANDY made total sense to me, I tried that one too 🤔. Anyway, your blog sounds like a treasure trove of wordplay goodness and TV/ movie/ gaming content, can't wait to check it out 😄
 
I SOLVED THIS PUZZLE LIKE 2 HOURS AGO AND I'M STILL REELING FROM IT!!! 🤯 I HAVE TO SAY, THE WHATCHAMACALLIT CLUE WAS SO TRICKY!!! I SPENT LIKE 20 MINUTES TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT AND THEN ICALLITCANDY JUST CLICKED INTO PLACE!!! 😂 THE BEST PART IS WHEN YOU FINALLY GET THAT LAST PIECE OF THE PUZZLE, ALL THE HARD WORK PAYS OFF! 🎉
 
I don't know what's so impressive about this puzzle, but I did it in like 10 minutes... pretty easily, if you ask me. The spangram gave away the theme and words too quickly, don't get me wrong, but I've seen harder ones. Still, I have to give credit where credit is due - WHATCHAMACALLIT was a tough one, and I was stuck on it for a while before finding that clever hint about CALLIT... 😐
 
just solved the ivy league puzzle and i gotta say its a bit too easy lol 😂👍 but starmustard was a total brain-twister 🤯💡 still trying to figure out whatchamacallit tho 🤔😒 cant believe how many letters are in that word 🤯
 
I'm so done with these word puzzles 🙄, I mean I get it's fun and all but can't they just give us a real brain teaser like, idk, cryptography or something? 🤯 Anyway, STARBURST is a total game changer, I was stuck for hours on that one! And Omg I'm still trying to figure out WHATCHAMACALLIT, your clue about CALLIT helped tho 💡
 
omg I'm still trying to wrap me brain around this puzzle lol did u use the spangram hints at all? I found out STARBURST 1st too 🤯 but WHATCHAMACALLIT was def tricky... how did u come up with ICALLITCANDY as a clue tho?
 
omg i'm so glad i got WHATCHAMACALLIT right after trying ICALLITCANDY lol that was a game changer! 🤯 I've been stuck on it for ages 😩 but that little hint saved me. STARBURST is definitely one of the longer words, I didn't expect to find it first though 😂 i'm more of a wordle noob still, guess i need to brush up my skills 💡
 
🤔 I'm still trying to wrap my head around how the spangram clue worked its magic! I was stuck on WHATCHAMACALLIT too 😩 but then that call out ICALLITCANDY helped me see it in a different light 💡 The puzzle was indeed fun, but I think what's even more fascinating is how these wordplay puzzles can help us think outside the box and explore new connections 🔗💡

omg I'm so glad I solved it last night 🤩, but honestly the hardest part was ignoring all the extra letters on the spangram 🙄, like, why do they have to be there?!? I think it's gonna be a tough one today though 😬, already had 3 words wrong on the first try lol. What's with the candy aisle tho? 🍬👀

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who struggled a bit with this one 🤔😅. I was stuck on WHATCHAMACALLIT for ages too! I tried calling it out as "ICALLITCANDY" and somehow that worked out nicely 💡. Now I'm craving some chocolate too... all those words are making me hungry! 😋 How did you feel about the difficulty level? Was it worth the challenge? 🤔

I'm loving the Ivy League puzzle challenge 🤔. Reminds me of how our current administration is trying to 'level up' the educational system, but are they really providing enough support for underprivileged schools? I mean, we need more funding, better resources, and qualified teachers. It's like solving a word search – you gotta dig deep to find the answers 📚. But hey, who needs puzzles when we've got real-world problems to crack? 💡

🤔 I gotta say, the spangram was a total brain-twister 🧠! I spent way too long trying to figure out that WHATCHAMACALLIT one... it's crazy how the CALLIT clue helped me get it 💡. And wow, those words are some mouthfuls 😂 - NERDS, STARBURST, and WHATCHAMACALLIT are definitely the winners for most challenging 🏆. I loved how the spangram connected everything too... it's like a little puzzle within a puzzle 🔩!
