Tolls on Eight Delaware River Bridges Set to Rise Next Year, Boosting Travel Costs for Motorists.
Drivers crossing the Delaware River will face higher tolls starting January 1 as the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission has approved a rate structure that increases prices by between $0.50 and $3 per vehicle. The commission cited financial projections showing a risk to its general fund reserve balance and debt service coverage ratio, prompting the need for these rate hikes to ensure bridge maintenance and operation costs are covered.

... I mean, I get it, we need to fix our bridges and all that, but $0.50 to $3 more per vehicle? That's just adding insult to injury for people trying to drive around for work or family stuff. And what's up with buses and trucks paying way more than the rest of us? 
It feels like they're picking winners and losers here... I just hope these tolls don't end up crippling our local economy

those buses and trucks with the height restrictions are gonna feel the pinch even more, and what about people who can't afford an E-ZPass? it's just gonna make travel costs even harder for low-income folks. hopefully these toll hikes will lead to some nice upgrades and safety improvements, but i'm still not feeling too optimistic

it's just not fair to raise the rates by that much. i get that the commission needs to fund bridge maintenance, but can't they explore other options like public-private partnerships or grants instead of passing on the costs to drivers?
