I'm all about these Hollywood movies being too scared to tackle the autocracy issue with some real substance

. Anniversary was actually pretty promising at first, but then it just became another generic "save the day" flick

. And don't even get me started on One Battle After Another, it's like they took every cliche from the war genre and mashed them all together into a mess

.
I think what really bothers me is how none of these movies want to actually explore the complexities of how we got here

. They're just too busy with the explosions and the hero's journey, they don't take the time to show us what happens when you let power corrupt people

.
The one film that did manage to scratch my surface was Civil War, but even then it wasn't perfect

. I think we need more movies like that, ones that can actually make us feel uncomfortable and think about the state of our country

. Not the blockbuster hits that just entertain us while we pretend like everything's fine

.
We should be expecting more from our entertainment than just mindless action

. We need films that challenge us, that make us question our assumptions and think critically about the world around us

. Anything less is just a waste of time and money

.
