Trump opposes Israel’s West Bank annexation, official says, as outcry grows

US President Donald Trump has reportedly expressed opposition to Israel's plans to annex the West Bank, according to a senior White House official. This comes as international criticism of the move continues to grow.

The official stated that a stable West Bank is in line with the US goal of achieving peace in the region and would keep Israel secure.

Meanwhile, far-right Israeli politicians have announced new measures extending control over occupied Palestinian territory, making it easier for Israelis to acquire land for settlements. These moves have been condemned by eight Muslim-majority countries, who described them as an attempt to impose "unlawful Israeli sovereignty" on Palestinian territory.

The United Nations Secretary-General has also expressed his opposition to the move, stating that Israel's actions are "destabilising" and corrosive to the prospects for a two-state solution. The UK government has called on Israel to reverse its decision, while Spain has condemned it as "contrary to international law".

These developments have sparked widespread criticism of Israel's plans, with many viewing them as an attempt to undermine the prospect of a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Critics argue that the annexation of the West Bank is an illegal and provocative move that would only serve to exacerbate tensions in the region. The move has also been met with opposition from within Israel itself, with some politicians calling for restraint on the part of the government.

As tensions continue to rise, it remains to be seen whether President Trump's opposition to the annexation will have a significant impact on the situation. However, his support for Israel in the past has raised concerns among many that he may not be willing to take strong action against such policies.

The international community is watching the situation closely, and any further developments are likely to have significant implications for the Middle East peace process.

im reading a lot about this annexation thing and honestly i think its a bad idea...i mean who gets to decide whats best for another peoples land? its not like us would be okay with it if someone tried to take over our homes or something...anyway i dont get why israel cant just have a conversation with the palestinians about what they want instead of trying to just take control and annex everything...its all so complicated 🤔🌎

🤔 I think its kinda weird that President Trump is speaking out now... considering his whole "America First" thing and how he's been super supportive of Israel in the past. Like, what changed? 🤑 Is it just a case of him trying to be seen as the good guy on this issue or something? And honestly, I'm not sure if his opposition is gonna make a huge difference... I mean, we've heard all these promises before and they never seem to follow through. 😐 The fact that Israel's politicians are pushing ahead with these new measures anyway just shows how divided the country really is on this issue. 🤷‍♂️ It's like, can't we just get some real progress on peace talks instead of just a bunch of back-and-forth between governments? 🤦‍♀️

Wow 🤯! Can't believe how divided the world is over this Israel-Palestine issue lol 😂. It's like, what's going on? One minute it's annexation plans, next thing you know, right-wing politicians are making it easier for settlers to grab land... and then the UN is all like "nope, not gonna happen". 🚫 Interesting how the US is playing both sides, though - Trump seems to be coming out against annexation, but his history with Israel raises some eyebrows 🤔. And what's up with these Muslim-majority countries? They're basically saying no annexation, but why? 🤷‍♂️

omg u wont bliev wut's happinng in the midddl east rn 🤯! trump said no 2 israel annexin the west bank but still got ppl thinkin hes not doin enuf 🤷‍♂️. like i get it, israel wants stability n all but annexing pbileneans territory? thatz just gonna make tings worse btw 👎. cant believe spain called it out as "contrary 2 intl law" lol wut r we even doin here 🤦‍♂️?

I'm so down with Donald Trump's stance on this 🤩! I mean, can you imagine if Israel just goes ahead and does whatever it wants? The US has got to stand up for itself, you know? 😊 It's all about keeping Israel secure, which is a big deal. And let's be real, annexing the West Bank would be super bad news for Palestinians 👎. We need that two-state solution to work out, or else it'll just get worse and worse. I'm not sure what to make of some of these far-right Israeli politicians, though 🤔. Their new measures are definitely causing a ruckus. We just gotta keep the pressure on Israel to do what's right 💪!

I'm worried about this whole thing 🤔... annexing the West Bank sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. I mean, can you imagine how that would affect the Palestinian people? They're already struggling to make ends meet and have no control over their own land. It's not right 💔.

I think it's good that Trump is speaking out against it though 🙏... we need more voices of reason in these situations. And yeah, I don't trust some of the far-right politicians in Israel either 😒. They're just playing politics with people's lives.

It's crazy to me that eight countries have already condemned this move 💥... that's a lot of international pressure being applied. And I'm glad Spain is speaking up too 🇪🇸... we need more allies like them who care about human rights and fairness.

I'm just hoping that Trump's opposition can make a difference in the long run ⏰... it'd be a huge step forward for peace in the Middle East if he does. Fingers crossed! 👍

Can't believe Trump's about-face on this one 🤔... all that bluster about "peace" and now it seems like he's just trying to placate Israel 🤑. Doesn't seem very credible, tbh 😐. And what's with these far-right Israeli politicians thinking they can just make up their own rules? 🚫 It's gonna be a nightmare if they actually go through with this annexation 💔.

omg, i cant believe what's going on with israel 🤯, they're literally trying to annex the west bank which is like, super controversial 🙅‍♂️. i mean, trump is all for it at first but now he's changing his mind? 🤔 maybe he just realized that it wouldnt be a good idea after all? 😏. and what's with the other countries condemning them? i feel bad for palestinians who are already living in a really tough situation 👎. gotta keep an eye on this one, can't let israel do whatever they want without consequences 🤝.

🤔 I'm like totally confused about this whole thing with Israel and the West Bank... 🤷‍♂️ If Trump's opposing the annexation, that means he wants a stable West Bank right? But at the same time, if Israel makes it easier for settlers to get land, that's just gonna make things more complicated. 💡 And what about all these Muslim-majority countries that are like "this is an attack on our sovereignty"? 🌎 It feels like everyone's got an opinion on this one! 😒

I'm also kinda worried about Trump's past support for Israel... will he still take a stand against this annexation or is he gonna let the whole thing slide? 🤝 And what about the Palestinians, are they just gonna get left behind in all this drama? 🤷‍♂️ It's like, I get why people want to make sure Israel stays secure, but can't we find a way to do that without messing with the Palestinian territories? 😔

🤔 Um so like what's going on with Israel and Palestine? 🤷‍♀️ I mean I'm trying to keep up but it all feels kinda confusing. So like if Israel is annexing the West Bank, doesn't that just kinda make it harder for them and Palestinians to agree on something? 🤦‍♂️ And what's a two-state solution even? Is that like a new plan or something? 😕 I feel like I'm missing something here... 🙈

I gotta say 🤔, people are acting like Israel's gonna just annex the West Bank and that's it 💸. Newsflash: it's not that simple 🙃. I mean, Trump's been vocal about opposing the move, but what does that even mean? Is he really gonna block it from happening or is this just some PR stunt to placate his base? 🤷‍♂️

I think we're missing the point here 🗺️. The real issue isn't whether Israel should annex the West Bank, it's about what's gonna happen to the Palestinian people 🌎. We need to focus on finding solutions that work for everyone involved, not just Israel 🤝.

And can we please stop demonizing these far-right Israeli politicians? I know they're extreme, but let's not forget that there are moderates in both sides of the conflict 💬. It's time for us to take a step back and have some real conversations about the future of this region 🗣️.

OMG, I'm literally shook by this news 🤯! Like, I get it, Israel wants to secure its borders, but annexing the West Bank? That's a huge red flag 🚨. And can we talk about how US politics is so unpredictable right now? One minute Trump is all about Israel, the next he's saying no way 🙅‍♂️. I'm rooting for peace in the Middle East, you know? It feels like such a complex issue, but maybe if everyone just talks it out and tries to understand each other's perspectives, we can get somewhere 💬. But what do I know? I'm just a random netizen 🤷‍♀️!

still can't believe its 2025 and they're rehashing this old news 🤯😂 what's next gonna be about obama being president again? anyway, think trump is just trying to get attention after all the drama he had during his term... or maybe hes just genuinely trying to help stabilize the region? idk, i mean its not like we're experts on international politics but it does seem like a pretty safe bet that annexing the west bank would be a huge mess for both israel and palestine... 🤔

🤦‍♂️ so now trump's opposition to israel annexing the west bank is a big deal... because apparently his past love affair with israel wasn't enough to guarantee he'd do whatever they wanted? 🤷‍♂️ it's interesting how only when there's international pressure does he start speaking out against this move. probably just waiting for another country to say "hey, you're making a huge mistake" before he makes his move. 🤑

🤔 I'm so frustrated with all this politicking 🙄. Can't world leaders just talk it out? 🗣️ It's like they're trying to make things worse instead of better 😩. And what's up with these far-right Israeli politicians? They sound like the ultimate spoilers party crashers 🎉👎.

I mean, we've got the whole US government going "hey, let's not annex the West Bank" 🙅‍♂️ and then some politicians in Israel are all like "nope, we're gonna make it happen anyway" 😒. And don't even get me started on the UN Secretary-General calling out Israel for its actions 👊.

I just wish they'd all calm down and think about how their actions are affecting real people's lives 💔. We need a solution to this Israeli-Palestinian conflict, not more drama 🤯. Can't we all just get along? 🌎💖

🚨😬 just saw this news and I'm already freaking out about it... annexing the West Bank sounds like a total recipe for disaster 🤯 Israel's plans are basically gonna push the conflict to the next level, making it even harder to resolve 📉 and let's not forget the Muslim-majority countries that are already calling BS on this move 👊 eight of 'em?! 😲 meanwhile trump's trying to play peacekeeper but I'm not buying it... he's always been pro-Israel 🙅‍♂️ which makes me worried about him taking strong action against this 🤔 can someone pls just calm down the Middle East situation already? 🙏😓

It's crazy how these moves by Israel can bring back all these complex emotions and questions about power and control... 🤯 Like, what does it mean when a country tries to annex another territory just to secure its own borders? Is that really the definition of security? 🤔 And then you have all this international pressure coming down on them, but still, they're pushing forward with these plans... It's like they're trying to create their own reality, no matter what anyone else says. 🌐 And what about the Palestinian people who are already living in this territory? Are they just supposed to sit back and watch as it gets taken away from them? 🤷‍♀️ It's all so messy and multifaceted...
