Trump praises Mamdani after White House meeting: "I want him to do a great job"

President Trump expressed his support for new New York Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani after a meeting at the White House on Friday. "I want him to do a great job," Trump said during the Oval Office meeting.

Mamdani, a democratic socialist, aims to address affordability issues in New York City. In response to his election victory, Trump stated that he hopes to meet with Mamdani again and work together to achieve common goals for the city.

Trump acknowledged that there will be topics of disagreement between them but emphasized the importance of finding areas of shared interests. "I think we'll probably come to a conclusion," Trump said. "And ultimately, he'll convince me or I'll convince him. You know, it's for the good of New York."

During their meeting, Mamdani stated his commitment to combating antisemitism across the five boroughs and protecting Jewish New Yorkers. He also expressed his intention to root out antisemitism in the city.

Trump praised Mamdani for being different from other mayoral candidates and said he thinks the mayor-elect has a chance to do something great for New York City. However, Trump also acknowledged that there will be areas of disagreement between them.

The meeting came hours after the House passed a resolution denouncing socialism. Some have questioned whether the president's support for Mamdani is genuine or an attempt to undermine the new mayor's progressive policies.

Despite their political differences, Trump and Mamdani appeared to have found common ground during their meeting. The two discussed issues such as affordability, immigration enforcement, and public safety.

Mamdani emphasized his commitment to working with anyone who shares his goal of making life more affordable for New Yorkers. "I will work with him on any agenda that benefits New Yorkers," he said.

Trump's support for Mamdani is seen as a positive development by some, while others are concerned about the implications of a Republican president backing a democratic socialist mayor. The meeting between Trump and Mamdani highlights the challenges ahead in finding areas of cooperation between the two parties.

I'm still surprised he'd do this... I mean, come on, Mamdani's all about raking it in for the rich and giving scraps to the poor. It's gonna be a disaster πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. Trump thinks he can just swoop in and make things better with his "great job" speech? No way. He's got an agenda too, you know. And Mamdani's just gonna sell out to him because it suits his own interests. I'm not buying it πŸ˜’. This whole thing reeks of politics as usual...

I feel like this whole thing feels so rehearsed, you know? Like, President Trump meets with Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, says they'll work together, but I'm pretty sure we've seen that same script before... remember when Obama met with Boehner and Bush Jr.? Now those were historic moments. This just feels like a typical Tuesday in DC. Trump praises Mamdani for being different, but isn't he just saying what he thinks people want to hear? And what's up with the antisemitism thing? That's such an easy way to get votes... πŸ€”

Ugh, I'm just so torn about this whole thing... I mean, on one hand, it's amazing to see a major figure like Trump coming out in support of a new mayor who's all about making life more affordable for New Yorkers πŸ€πŸ½πŸ’–. And Mamdani seems like an awesome dude who's all about doing what's right for the city.

But at the same time, I'm also getting some major red flags from Trump's comments... like, is this just a PR move to try and undermine Mamdani's progressive policies? πŸ€”πŸ‘€ And what about that whole resolution in the House denouncing socialism - it feels so divisive and polarizing.

I think we need to keep an open mind here and see how things play out. Maybe Trump really does want to work with Mamdani on some of those issues... but at the same time, we can't ignore the history between their parties πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ’”. I'm just hoping for the best for New York City and all its residents πŸ’•

Wow 🀯, just what we need, another politician trying to be friends with someone from a different party... Interesting 😐, how long will this 'friendship' last? Trump's gotta mean something by supporting Mamdani, but at the same time, it's like he's playing a game of "let's make nice"...

πŸ˜‚ so Trump just gave a major thumbs up to this new Dem-Socialist mayor-elect πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ, like he's some kinda matchmaker on Tinder πŸ’˜. "We'll find common ground" πŸ€”, sure hope so cuz I'd love to see a 45-year-old billionaire and a left-wing politician getting along like besties πŸ‘«. And btw, who needs socialism when you have a $200k+ annual salary πŸ˜‚? Mamdani's commitment to fighting antisemitism is super cool tho πŸ™, might just make this unlikely duo work 🀞

Ugh πŸ€• just saw that the House passed a resolution denouncing socialism... like it's gonna make a difference πŸ™„. And now President Trump is trying to play nice with Zohran Mamdani, but I'm not buying it πŸ˜’. Mamdani's all about affordability and combating antisemitism, which sounds great on paper, but what about the other issues? How's he gonna balance his progressive policies with Trump's... whatever he's got πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. And let's be real, this whole thing feels like a PR stunt to distract us from the real problems πŸ˜’. Can't we just talk about something else for once? πŸ™„

idk why trump is supporting zohran mamdani tho πŸ€” he's a demsoc, not exactly known 4 being super centrist lol πŸ˜‚ anywayz, i think its cool that mamdani is talkin bout rootin out antisemitism in nyc... thats somethin we should all be able to agree on πŸ‘ and yeah, affordability issues r major probs in nyc... maybe trump & mamdani can find some common ground 🀞 or idk, maybe they'll just b like 2 politicians who r gonna argue lol πŸ˜‚

I don't know man... I was just thinking, back in my day we had our politicians figure out ways to actually work together without all this drama πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. Now it feels like everyone's more concerned with being right than actually getting things done for the people πŸ’Έ. Trump is gonna give Mamdani some space, but I bet there'll be a lot of posturing going on behind closed doors... and honestly, I'm not sure if that's such a good thing πŸ€”. Still, you gotta give 'em credit - at least they're trying to find common ground, even if it's just for the cameras πŸ“Έ. Maybe this is all just a big show to appease the base? Whatever, I'll be watching from the sidelines with a bag of popcorn... 🍿

I'm not sure why everyone's getting so worked up about this... I mean, at the end of the day, Zohran wants to make life more affordable for New Yorkers, and Trump seems to think that's a good thing. Let's focus on finding common ground here 🀝. Both guys are passionate about making their city better, even if they disagree on how to do it. Mamdani's commitment to combating antisemitism is definitely something to be celebrated πŸ™. And who knows, maybe Trump's support for him will bring some much-needed attention to the issue πŸ“°. Let's not forget that there are more important things at stake than party politics πŸ’‘.

omg i think its super cool that trump is actually being supportive of mamdani! like who would've thought ronald trumps would be stanning a democratic socialist πŸ€©πŸ‘. seriously though, it shows that even with their differences, they can find common ground and work together for the betterment of NYC. affordability issues are super real in that city so i hope mamdani and trump can make some real progress on that front πŸ’ΈπŸ’•

πŸ€” I think it's interesting that Trump is showing support for Zohran Mamdani, especially given the House just passed that resolution denouncing socialism πŸ™„. It's like, can't you just agree to disagree without trying to undermine someone? πŸ˜’ Trump's comment about finding common ground on issues like affordability and public safety feels pretty genuine πŸ’‘. But at the same time, it's hard not to wonder if this is all just a PR stunt 🎬. Mamdani seems like a progressive who actually cares about making life more affordable for New Yorkers, so I hope he can work with Trump on that front πŸ‘. The real challenge will be finding areas of agreement between their parties 🀝.

I'm lovin' this unexpected collab btw 🀯! Trump's all like "let's work together" but I think it's more about PR at this point. Mamdani's got a clear agenda and Trump wants to be seen as all buddy-buddy 🀝. Can't deny the guy's been through some crazy stuff, so I get why he'd wanna meet with him. But let's not forget, Mamdani's all about the progressive vibes πŸ’š, which is where things might get a little wonky for Trump and co. Still, it's cool to see them chat about issues like affordability and public safety πŸ€πŸΌπŸ’•

I'm not sure what to make of this news πŸ˜•... I mean, Trump supporting a socialist mayor? It sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie from the 80s πŸš€. Back then, we had Reagan and his "Morning in America" campaign, now it's Trump backing Mamdani. Politics are crazy right? 🀯 Anyway, I think it's cool that they found common ground on affordability and stuff. Maybe Trump is finally starting to understand what the regular people want πŸ€‘. But at the same time, I'm worried about the socialism thing... my aunt still lives in NYC and she's like "what's going to happen to our taxes?" πŸ˜‚ Guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out πŸ‘€
