Two peers suspended from House of Lords for breaking lobbying rules

I mean, come on! These two Lords thought they could just use their military backgrounds and parliamentary positions to get favors from ministers? Not cool, guys. I'd say they got caught with their hands in the cookie jar. I can understand why the watchdog is cracking down - it's all about maintaining public trust. And let's be real, it's not like Dannatt was trying to hide his actions or anything... he basically offered to "make introductions" and "get to know" key politicians on behalf of a commercial client. That's some pretty serious conflict of interest right there! I'm all for transparency in politics, but this is just ridiculous. Five months? Four months? That seems like a decent amount of time for some reflection and soul-searching.

I just got back from the most amazing coffee shop near my place , they have this crazy good cold brew that's literally changed my life... I mean, have you ever tried it? Anyway, what's really weird about these guys is how quickly they jumped to defending themselves after getting caught. Like, Dannatt was all "I was just trying to help the national interest" and now he's admitting guilt . It makes me wonder if some people would rather take a fall than admit when they've messed up...

omg can u believe what's goin on w/ Lord Richard Dannatt he was supposed 2 b a role model but instead he's gettin suspended fer 4 months and it's all cuz he got caught tryna lobby ministers on behalf of commercial clients like, hello ethics? u can't just exploit ur position 4 personal gain! anyways i feel bad 4 Lord Evans too he's been suspended fer 5 months n all cuz he breached lobbying rules too but let's be real, both these guys shoulda known better the watchog's got a point, u gotta maintain public trust or else ppl will start thinkin u r corrupt anyway, i'm still loyal 2 the house of lords lol they may have some dirty laundry but i still love 'em

Ugh, two more guys getting caught for abusing their power . Like, I get it, they're just trying to make a buck or curry favor with the right people... but do they really need to break the rules? It's not like they were exactly subtle about what they were doing either. I mean, come on, Lord Dannatt, making "introductions" and "getting to know" key politicians? Sounds like he was more interested in getting his name out than actually helping anyone .

And don't even get me started on Lord Evans... five months suspended for charging excessive fees and not following the rules? That's just great, because we all needed another example of how the rich and powerful can get away with stuff . I guess this is just more proof that some folks in power are more interested in lining their own pockets than doing what's best for everyone else .

Ugh, another scandal hitting the House of Lords. I mean, what's the point of having a watchdog if they're just gonna let these guys get away with it? Lord Richard Dannatt thought he was all high and mighty with his "making introductions" to ministers, but really he was just trying to curry favor with some rich dude who wanted to lobby the government. And now he gets suspended for 4 months? That's just a slap on the wrist if you ask me.

And Lord David Evans? Yeah, he was straight up corrupt from day one. Charging people exorbitant fees for events and not even bothering to get parliamentary consent? Give me a break. The fact that these guys think they're above the law is what really gets my goat. I mean, who needs public trust when you can just do whatever you want and hope nobody notices?

It's like, come on, guys. If you're gonna play with fire, don't be surprised when you get burned. And if the Guardian isn't doing their job to expose these types of shenanigans, then what are we supposed to believe?
