UK approves Chinese 'mega embassy' in London after reassurances from spy chiefs

I'm so worried about this , I mean, I get that it's just diplomacy and all that, but 200 staff members?! That's a lot of potential ears to listen in on ! And what about those underground data cables? It's like they're inviting China to have a party over there . I'm not saying we should be paranoid or anything , but can't we just take a step back and think about the bigger picture here? It feels like we're sacrificing our own security for the sake of being "friendly" with China . What if it's not just espionage, what if it's actual surveillance ?! I'm not sure what's more concerning, China building an embassy next to the Tower of London or us giving up too much control over our own security .

its like they're giving china free rein over london i dont think its a good idea at all, even if the spy chiefs say they can handle it... 200 staff members is just too many for such a sensitive location... whats the point of having national security assurances if we cant trust our own spy agencies? local residents are right to be worried about this project, and i dont think its fair that londoners have to suffer because of some diplomatic relations

so china is building a huge embassy near the tower of london and the uk is just like "yeah no worries" i mean what's next? is this going to be like a tourist trap or something where they just walk in and start spying on everyone but seriously though, isn't it weird that chinese spies are worried about the cables under london but not worried about their own humans rights record shouldn't they be more concerned with all the bad stuff they've done? also what's going on with keir starmer and china next week? is he just going to go over there and pretend like everything is cool
