Bethesda-owned survival game Valheim is set to arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2 later this year. The procedurally generated open world that lets players team up with nine others online promises hours of exploration and combat inspired by Norse mythology.
As a lone Viking or as part of a group, survival will be key in crafting equipment, building shelters, and fending off formidable foes. With an ultimate goal to kill gods scattered across the different biomes to earn entry into Valhalla, players can also opt for more leisurely pursuits like cooking meals for fellow adventurers.
Although the Switch 2 version may not have been visually impressive according to recent footage, it does offer some welcome features such as support for mouse controls and HD Rumble. As with other versions of the game, this one is still in early access mode, though a potential full release could coincide with an overall milestone: Valheim will hit version 1.0.
Valheim originally debuted on PC before transitioning to Xbox and PS5 later this year. No specific release date has been announced yet for its Switch 2 port, but it seems likely that these versions may launch concurrently in order to mark a major milestone in the game's development history.
