Victorian Holiday House returns to Grundy Museum with a festive 'Toys & Tinsel' theme

This year's Victorian Holiday House at the Grundy Museum in Bristol is back and better than ever. The 19th-century riverside home has been transformed into a winter wonderland with a festive 'Toys & Tinsel' theme that will transport visitors back to the elegance and sentiment of the Victorian era.

Upon entering the property, guests are treated to an immersive experience, with seven Christmas trees adorning each room. From parlor to kitchen, every space is filled with unique and captivating displays, reminiscent of a vintage holiday postcard come to life.

One of the standout features of this year's event is an exclusive exhibit showcasing antique toys from Philadelphia collector Troy Chinnici-Bianchi. The display features hand-carved rocking horses, miniature carousels, early teddy bears, dolls, and wooden playthings, giving visitors a rare glimpse into the artistry and whimsy that defined childhood over a century ago.

For those looking for a more low-key experience, the Grundy Museum is offering $5 walk-through tours from November 22 through December 20. These tours offer a cozy way to enjoy the festive decorations and toy exhibit while supporting the museum's educational programs.

The season kicks off with an Opening Night celebration on Friday, November 21, at 6 p.m., where guests can explore the decorated home, listen to a live violin performance by Claudia Pellegrini, and indulge in light refreshments in the South Lawn Garden. Tickets for this special event are $50.

Additionally, the museum has partnered with Itri Wood Fired Pizza and The King George Inn to offer 'Date Night in Winter,' a dining promotion that pairs a museum visit with exclusive discounts at participating Bristol Borough restaurants.

I'm low-key obsessed with the new Victorian Holiday House exhibit 🀩! Who wouldn't want to walk through a 19th-century riverside home transformed into a winter wonderland? The 'Toys & Tinsel' theme is so on point, it's like stepping into a vintage holiday card. I love that they're showcasing antique toys from Philadelphia collector Troy Chinnici-Bianchi - those hand-carved rocking horses and miniature carousels are giving me major nostalgia vibes πŸŽ„. And the best part? You can get all the feels for just $5 on their walk-through tours. Not to mention, the Opening Night celebration with live music and light refreshments sounds like a hoot! πŸ‘

πŸ€” You know what got me thinking after reading this? It's how we can take something old and dusty like an antique toy collection and make it come alive for the next gen 🎨. Troy Chinnici-Bianchi's exhibit is a great example of that – it's like stepping into a time capsule, but one that tells us about the importance of playfulness and creativity in childhood. And you know what? I think we can all learn from that ❀️. It's easy to get caught up in our busy lives and forget the simple joys of childhood, but this exhibit reminds us to slow down, appreciate the little things, and let ourselves be a little whimsical 😊. That's what I'm gonna take away from this news – the value of imagination and playfulness πŸŽ„

OMG, you guys! 🀩 The Victorian Holiday House at the Grundy Museum in Bristol is literally giving me all the festive feels this season! πŸŽ„ I mean, who wouldn't want to walk into a 19th-century riverside home and be transported back to the elegance of the Victorian era? 🏠 And seven Christmas trees in every room? That's just pure magic ✨!

And can we talk about the antique toy exhibit? Hand-carved rocking horses and early teddy bears... it's like stepping into a vintage holiday postcard! 😍 I'm totally geeking out over this display. Plus, supporting the museum's educational programs is a great bonus 🎁.

If you're looking for something low-key, those $5 walk-through tours are a genius idea ⏰. And don't even get me started on the Opening Night celebration... who wouldn't want to indulge in light refreshments and listen to live music under the stars? πŸŒƒ It's the perfect excuse to get your festive fix!

I'm not sold on this year's Victorian Holiday House thingy... πŸ€” I mean, it sounds like a lot of people are just gonna wanna come in and be wowed by some old toys, right? Like, what's the real draw here? Is it really that deep? And $50 for an opening night event? No thanks, that's just asking for a line of people at the door... or a bunch of overpriced souvenirs πŸ›οΈ. Don't get me wrong, I like a good museum exhibit as much as the next person, but is this really the kind of "winter wonderland" we need? Or are we just getting caught up in the festive hype? πŸŽ„

πŸŽ„πŸ˜Š oh man i'm so down for this! a winter wonderland themed house sounds like the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit πŸ•―οΈ i love that they've got all these adorable christmas trees in every room, it's like walking into a vintage holiday postcard come true πŸ“Έ and can we talk about the antique toys exhibit?! 🀩 hand-carved rocking horses and tiny carousels? yeah please! 😍 5 bucks for walk-through tours sounds like a total steal too πŸ€‘ plus they're supporting their educational programs... win win in my book πŸŽ‰

I'm so down for this Victorian Holiday House thingy πŸŽ„πŸ ! You know, back in my day, we used to decorate our homes with candles and whatnot, but I love how they're doing it up fancy with all the Christmas trees and vintage toys 🀩. And can we talk about that Troy Chinnici-Bianchi exhibit? It's like stepping into a time machine or something! Hand-carved rocking horses and miniature carousels... it's just so cool 😎.

I'm not really one for these big events, but I do love the idea of walk-through tours for $5. That's like, totally reasonable, you know? πŸ€‘ And I heard they're doing a 'Date Night in Winter' thing with some local restaurants? That sounds like a great way to spend an evening out with your significant other... or just a solo night in, cozied up by the tree πŸ”₯.

OMG, I am literally DYING over the Victorian Holiday House at the Grundy Museum!!! 🀩 It sounds like they've gone all out with this year's theme and I am HERE. FOR. IT! πŸŽ„ The idea of an immersive experience with 7 Christmas trees in every room is giving me LIFE 😍 And that antique toy exhibit? 🀯 Troy Chinnici-Bianchi must be a total genius, showcasing those adorable hand-carved rocking horses and early teddy bears... it's like stepping into a time capsule! 😍 The $5 walk-through tours sound like an amazing deal too, can't wait to check it out on my budget-friendly shopping list πŸ›οΈ. And the Opening Night celebration with a live violin performance? 🎢 I'm sold! πŸ’Έ Can't wait to splurge and get into the holiday spirit πŸŽ„

I'm so down for the Toy & Tinsel theme this year at the Victorian Holiday House! My kid is obsessed with antique toys and I know they'll love seeing all those vintage teddy bears and rocking horses up close 😊. We're planning on doing the $5 walk-through tour on a quiet weekday, that sounds like a perfect way to spend a winter afternoon together as a family 🌟. And oh, can we get an invite to the Opening Night celebration? I'd love to see Claudia Pellegrini perform and enjoy some cozy food with my little one ❀️. Have you been to any holiday events in Bristol lately?

I'm so down for this! πŸŽ„πŸ’« I mean, who wouldn't want to step into a 19th-century Victorian home all decked out like a fairytale winter wonderland? And the toy exhibit sounds amazing! 🀩 My grandkid is super into antiques and collectibles right now, so I think she'd love that. And it's great that they're offering walk-through tours for $5 - that's super reasonable. We'll def be checking that out. The opening night celebration also sounds like a fun way to kick off the season... we might even try to swing in on that one! πŸŽ‰

I gotta say, this Victorian Holiday House is lookin' like a real showstopper πŸŽ„πŸ‘, but let's be real, it's not just about the festive decorations and antiques on display... it's about the economic impact on local businesses and communities πŸ€‘. I mean, we're talkin' $5 walk-through tours for under 20 bucks, that's a steal! But what about our friends at Itri Wood Fired Pizza and The King George Inn? Are they gettin' a fair share of those "Date Night in Winter" deals? It's all about supply and demand, folks πŸ“ˆ. And what's the real motive behind partnerin' with these local businesses? Is it just to boost tourism or is there an underlying attempt to shape public opinion on Bristol Borough restaurants? I'm not convinced πŸ€”.

This "Toys & Tinsel" theme is a perfect example of how we can bring back the magic of the past without being too expensive or overwhelming. I mean, think about it, our economy and social services are already under stress, so why should we be throwing millions on fancy decorations just to feel festive? πŸ€”

But what really gets me thinking is the fact that our politicians are always touting "investment in heritage" as a way to boost local economies. And here we have an exhibit showcasing antique toys and giving people a chance to experience the elegance of the Victorian era for just $5! That's real investment, folks! It's all about finding ways to support small businesses and community initiatives.

And let's not forget about the "Date Night in Winter" promotion. Now that's some smart policy-making if I ever saw it. By partnering with local restaurants and bars, they're supporting the local economy while also attracting new visitors to Bristol. It's a win-win situation! πŸ’Έ

Ugh, can't believe they're charging 50 bucks for some cheesy violin performance... what's the point of even having tickets, gonna be a bunch of old people sipping wine and pretending to have fun πŸ™„. And don't even get me started on the "Date Night in Winter" thing, just another way for them to rip off unsuspecting couples looking for a romantic evening out πŸ’Έ. And what's with all these overpriced tours? $5 for a walk-through tour? Give me a break, they're basically selling you a fancy brochure πŸ“š. And have you seen the size of those Christmas trees? Like, who needs that many ornaments? It's just going to be a bunch of tacky decorations to stuff your face with cake and cookies 🍰.
