I'm so relieved to hear that Mogadishu's streets are getting safer! As a parent, I can only imagine how scary it must have been for families to navigate the city with kids. Now, with these new security measures in place, it's like a weight has been lifted off their shoulders

. The fact that checkpoints and patrols are being implemented shows that the authorities are taking the threat from al-Shabab seriously, which is really admirable.
But I do worry about the root causes of extremism, you know? Poverty and lack of education can be such powerful drivers of radicalization... as a parent, it's hard not to wonder if we're doing enough to address those underlying issues. Job creation programs and poverty reduction efforts are definitely steps in the right direction

. And education campaigns that promote social cohesion are so important for building trust between security forces and local communities.
It's great to see international partners supporting Mogadishu's efforts, but at the end of the day, it's the Somali government and local leaders who need to work together to build a safer, more stable future for their people. Fingers crossed that these initiatives will pay off and al-Shabab's threat will be eradicated!
