Video Shows ICE Agent’s Fatal Shooting of Civilian in Minneapolis

A Video Captures ICE Agent Shooting a Woman in Minneapolis Amid Protests Over Immigration Raids

Federal agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) shot multiple rounds into the vehicle of Renee Nicole Good, identified as a civilian, during an immigration raid in Minneapolis on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred amid protests by locals against the ICE raids in a residential neighborhood.

The video shows a dark red Honda Pilot losing control after being hit with multiple shots, resulting in smoke billowing from the car. An agent then approaches the vehicle through the open driver's side window and is heard saying "Get out of the fucking car." However, instead of complying, Good yields to federal vehicles, waving them along.

The ICE agent fires at short range directly into the driver's side, with at least three shots audible in the video. The incident has sparked outrage among civil rights activists and elected officials who have condemned the shooting as a "massacre" by federal agents.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey stated that the Department of Homeland Security was trying to spin the shooting as an act of self-defense, but Frey called this claim "bullshit." He claimed that Good had been peacefully protesting against ICE raids and had not threatened anyone. The mayor also urged the public to remain calm amid rising tensions.

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Minneapolis Council Member Soren Stevenson have referred to Renee Nicole Good as a "legal observer," highlighting her non-violent stance during the protests.

The shooting is another example of federal agents brandishing firearms at unarmed individuals during immigration-related operations. Similar incidents have occurred in other parts of the country, with Border Patrol agents opening fire on a family and shooting a man who was trying to warn DHS agents of children's presence.

The Intercept has documented a pattern of federal agents using excessive force against protesters, including beating people who were documenting immigration raids and firing tear gas at unarmed individuals. The newspaper has also reported that Trump's administration is escalating efforts to target the Somali-American community in Minneapolis amidst increased immigration enforcement.

As the U.S. grapples with its democratic crisis, many are questioning how the media is covering these incidents. Some outlets have described Trump's actions as "unconventional" or "aggressively flexing power," which critics argue downplays the severity of his attacks on democracy. The Intercept has been vocal about the importance of press freedom in defending democracy and has called for support to expand its reporting capacity.

This is really scary stuff 🤯... ICE agents using excessive force on unarmed civilians is just wrong. I feel so bad for Renee Nicole Good, she was just trying to peacefully protest against the raids and get caught up in something that could've been avoided. The fact that the mayor is saying the government's claim of self-defense is just a bunch of BS shows you how out of touch they are with reality 🙄... Can't we all just find a way to peacefully coexist? I'm so tired of the drama and violence that always seems to follow immigration policies 🤕. It's like, what's the point of enforcing laws if it means putting innocent people in harm's way? We need to take a step back and rethink our approach to immigration, for everyone's sake 🤞...

can we please take a deep breath and talk about this 🙏... just because someone is peacefully protesting, doesn't mean they deserve to be shot at 🚫 it's not cool that ICE agents are using excessive force on unarmed individuals in Minneapolis, or anywhere else for that matter 💥 the fact that Renee Nicole Good was trying to wave down federal vehicles and had no reason to believe they were there to harm her is just crazy 😲 the media needs to do a better job of covering these incidents without sensationalizing them or making excuses for the agents' actions 📰 meanwhile, I'm worried about what this says about our country's values and respect for human life 💔

man this is so messed up 🤯 ICE agents are supposed to be enforcing laws not making examples out of people protesting against their own actions. Renee Good was just trying to do her civic duty and she gets shot at... it's insane that the DHS is trying to spin this as self-defense when it's clear she had no reason to be violent. and what's with all these ICE raids in residential neighborhoods? shouldn't they be targeting people who are breaking the law, not peaceful citizens exercising their rights? we need more accountability from our government officials on this one 👮‍♂️

omg this is insane 🤯 how can u be shooting ppl with a gun & expect them 2 just chill & wave at ur car lol like what's good w/ that? 🙄 the whole thing seems fishy 2 me, esp when they try 2 spin it as self-defense but Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey is all "nope" and calls it out 🤣

🤕 this is so heartbreaking, a woman just trying to do her part in protesting against immigration raids gets shot by an ICE agent... it's just senseless 💔. I mean, what if she had been carrying that gun? would the agents have acted differently? 🤦‍♀️ it's all so messed up.

and can we talk about how ridiculous the whole "self-defense" claim is? 🙄 come on, mayor Frey is not buying it and neither should we. Renee Nicole Good wasn't threatening anyone, she was just trying to peacefully protest... that's what we need more of in this country, not less.

and have you seen all the videos like this coming out? it's like federal agents are just brandishing their guns left and right at unarmed people 🤯. and then the media has the nerve to call it "unconventional" or "aggressively flexing power"... no, it's just unconscionable.

we need to do better, folks... we need to stand up for our rights and for each other 🌟.

🤦‍♀️ can't believe they shot her just because she was protesting against immigration raids I mean what's the point of having a peaceful protest if you're just gonna get gunned down? 🚫 it's like, we get it ICE has to do their job but that doesn't give them the right to shoot someone who's not even armed. this whole thing is just so messed up and the fact that they're trying to spin it as self-defense is just laughable...anyway gotta agree with Rep Omar and the mayor on this one, Renee Nicole was a peaceful observer and didn't deserve to be shot. 🤝

OMG, this is crazy! 🤯 I'm so worried about Renee Nicole Good, she was just trying to peacefully protest against ICE raids and get shot by a federal agent... it's like, what even is the point of that?! 😩 The fact that the mayor and Rep. Omar are calling out DHS for trying to spin this as self-defense is totally justified - it's clear they're trying to cover up their own wrongdoing 🙅‍♂️.

I mean, these ICE agents need to take responsibility for their actions, like, seriously get some training on de-escalation techniques or something! 💪 It's not just about the immigrants being targeted, but also about the peaceful protesters who are just trying to make their voices heard. The Intercept is totally right to be calling out the media for downplaying these incidents - we need more coverage on this kind of thing, you feel?! 📰

It's so frustrating that some people think this is just another example of Trump's "aggressive flexing" power, when really it's just a bunch of federal agents being reckless and putting innocent lives at risk 💥. We need to stand up for press freedom and make sure the media is holding these guys accountable! 💪

This is so messed up 😱 I mean, what's the point of even having protesters if they're just gonna get shot by ICE agents? It's like they're asking to be fired on 🤯 And the fact that this woman, Renee Nicole Good, was just trying to help and wasn't even threatening anyone... it's just not right. I don't think the government or DHS should try to spin this as self-defense either - there were plenty of peaceful protesters in the area who weren't doing anything wrong. It's like they're trying to make an example out of her, but really they're just making a mess 🙄

🚨 this is such a disturbing incident, I mean, can you even imagine being in that situation? 🤯 Renee Nicole Good, she's like an innocent bystander who got caught up in the chaos of a protest, and then federal agents are firing at her, yelling at her to get out of the car... it's just heartbreaking. 😩

I think what really gets me is how the media is portraying this incident - some outlets are saying that Trump's actions are "unconventional" or that he's "flexing his power", and I'm like, no, this is a massacre. This is a woman who was peacefully protesting and got shot by federal agents. It's not about flexing power, it's about protecting people's rights and lives. 💔

And what really concerns me is the pattern of behavior here - we've seen similar incidents with Border Patrol agents opening fire on unarmed individuals, and now this latest shooting in Minneapolis... it's like these agents are emboldened to use excessive force against protesters, and that's a huge problem. We need to be holding our leaders accountable for their actions, and we need to be supporting the journalists who are reporting on these incidents without fear of retribution. 💪

omg dont believe the spin from DHS - clearly Good had no right to be in that situation & was lucky she didnt get hurt more . ICE is supposed to enforce immigration laws, not terrorize innocent ppl protesting against their raids its like they're intentionally trying to provoke people , and the video evidence speaks for itself : multiple shots fired into a car with ppl inside . Frey's callin it out as BS is the only thing that's gonna bring some accountability here

omg this is so messed up 😱 i cant believe what i just saw...ICE agents are supposed to be law enforcement but they're basically just shooting at people who are trying to exercise their right to protest 🤯 the fact that Renee Nicole Good was identified as a civilian and was not even armed is just ridiculous 🙄 how do we trust these guys with our lives? it's like they're more interested in enforcing immigration laws than protecting human life 💔

omg i'm literally livid right now 🤯 this is a straight up massacre by the fed agents they're just running around with guns blazing like that's what they do 🎯 news outlets are gonna spin it however but we all know the truth - someone gets shot because they were peacefully protesting against ICE raids and no one's gonna be held accountable for this 💔 the media needs to step up their game too, can't just downplay these incidents with some watered-down term like "unconventional" or whatever 🙄 we need real reporting on this stuff, not just a bunch of fluff to appease the powers that be 📰

🤯 this is just getting crazier by the day 🙅‍♂️ ICE agents think they can just waltz into residential neighborhoods and start shooting at anyone who gets in their way? It's bloody ridiculous 💀 I mean, what's next? Sending them to our quiet little suburbs with guns blazing? 🚫 No wonder people are taking to the streets and protesting against these raids. We need more voices like Rep Omar speaking out against this senseless violence 💪

🤯 OMG I cant even believe what happened! Those ICE agents are literally a menace I mean whats up with them just brandishing their guns at unarmed people protesting against immigration raids? Like, Renee Nicole Good wasnt doing anything wrong she was just trying to exercise her right to peaceful protest and the ICE agent loses control and starts shooting into her car?! 🚗😱 That's so crazy! Mayor Frey is totally right though, DHS is trying to spin this as some kind of self-defense but it's so obvious that they were in the wrong. And can we talk about how Rep Omar is referring to Renee Nicole Good as a "legal observer"? Like, she was literally just doing her job and didnt pose any threat to anyone whatsoever 🤷‍♀️ I need more info on this though, like what else has The Intercept documented about federal agents using excessive force against protesters? And whats going on with the Somali-American community in Minneapolis? This is getting so out of hand...

OMG, what is going on with these ICE agents?! 🤯 This shooting is totally unacceptable! Renee Nicole Good was just trying to protest peacefully and they come at her with guns blazing? It's like, hello, she wasn't even armed! And the fact that they're trying to spin it as self-defense is just laughable. Mayor Frey is right, this is a clear case of excessive force.

I'm also really bothered by the lack of press freedom in this country right now. The Intercept is doing some amazing work exposing these incidents and holding those in power accountable, but we need more outlets like that to keep our government on its toes. We can't let the media just sugarcoat everything and make it seem like Trump's actions are "unconventional" instead of what they really are - a blatant attack on democracy.

This is exactly why we need to stand up for these protesters and support organizations like The Intercept. We can't just sit back and watch as our government becomes more authoritarian by the day. 🚫💪

🤯 I'm still trying to process what happened in Minneapolis 🤕 that video is just insane, like who does that? 😱 Renee Nicole Good was just trying to protest peacefully and she got shot by an ICE agent... it's just not right 🙅‍♀️. The mayor is saying the agents were trying to spin this as self-defense but come on, there's no way that's true 🤔. It's like they're trying to silence people who are speaking out against unfair immigration policies 👊. We need more reporting like this from The Intercept to hold these agencies accountable 💪. It's time for some real change in this country 🔥.
