Vikings' Wentz to have season-ending surgery

Carson Wentz, the quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a left shoulder injury that has been plaguing him throughout the season. The injury, which includes a torn labrum and fractured socket, forced Wentz to play through pain, but ultimately made it too much to continue.

Wentz's struggles with his shoulder began in Week 5, when he took three hard hits during a game against the Cleveland Browns, one of which caused the injury. Despite playing through the pain, Wentz has been unable to shake off the discomfort and now faces a long road to recovery.

The Vikings have already made plans to move on without Wentz, with undrafted rookie Max Brosmer serving as the backup quarterback. While Brosmer didn't get a chance to prove himself until the end of the game last Thursday, when he entered in the final minute, coach Kevin O'Connell acknowledged that it would have been difficult for him to perform under such pressure.

The Vikings also made some roster moves, signing tight end Ben Sims and releasing Josh Oliver due to an injury. With Wentz out of commission, the team is now focused on the remainder of their season, with McCarthy expected to return to the starting lineup.

Wentz's season-ending injury marks a disappointing turn for the veteran quarterback, who had shown promise despite playing through pain. The Vikings' decision to sign him as backup was seen as a gamble, and it ultimately paid off in a limited sense, but not enough to overcome the severity of his injury.

ugh this is so bad for minnesota vikings, they were actually doing pretty well with wentz at qb and now he's out for the season 🤕😬. max brosmer looks like a decent backup tho, hope he can lead the team to some wins 💪. gotta feel for wentz though, playing through pain all season and it paid off in a worst way possible 😔. coach kevin o'connell's plan to get mccarthy back in is looking good atm 👍

Ugh, great, just what we need, another injury to mess up our season 😒. I mean, Carson Wentz is like the human version of a puzzle piece that's constantly falling apart 🤯. You take him out for one game and suddenly he's done for the year? That's just nice timing for the Vikings. And don't even get me started on Max Brosmer... like, who expected an undrafted rookie to step in as backup and not totally tank it 😂. At least they're getting Ben Sims to fill some of the void... I guess that's something 🤷‍♀️

OMG u guyz! 🤯 I'm tellin u, this is no coincidence that Carson Wentz got hurt now! Like, what r the chances? 😒 He was playin through pain and still managed to get injured bad. And y do they just bring in Max Brosmer like that? It's like they wanted him to fail so they can make a move on someone else... 🤔 maybe someone with more connections or something? And wut about the roster moves? Signing Ben Sims but releasing Josh Oliver, who was supposed 2 be their new TE?! This all just feels too suspicious 4 me 🤷‍♂️

aww man 🤕 this is so sad for carson wentz... i feel bad for him, he's been dealing with that shoulder injury all season and had to play through pain lol imagine how frustrating that must be.

anyway, i'm not surprised the vikings are already looking ahead without him though 😐 they did sign max brosmer as a backup so they've got some hope there. but you're right, it's gonna be tough for him to get back into form after missing all this time. and now they gotta rely on mccarthy again... hopefully he can bounce back from his own injury 🤞

😞 Carson Wentz's season is over 🤕 He went through so much pain this year, it's tough to watch him go down like that 💔 Still gotta give props to Max Brosmer for stepping up and showing what he can do 😊 The Vikings' coaching staff did their job in getting ready for a backup plan. They might not have gotten the outcome they wanted with Wentz, but they're still moving forward 🏈
