Warner Bros. Revs Up a Speedy Gonzales Solo Movie

Warner Bros. is revving up its engines to bring Speedy Gonzales' big-screen debut. Jorge R. Gutiérrez, director behind 'The Book of Life', 'El Tigre', and 'El Guapo vs. The Narco Vampires', is at the helm for this animated adventure.

The 1953 Looney Tunes character made his mark with a short film, 'Cat-Tails for Two', before landing his own show two years later. As an iconic figure in Latin American culture, Speedy Gonzales has built a loyal following thanks to his knack for outsmarting adversaries like Sylvester and Daffy.

However, Speedy's solo movie isn't the first attempt at bringing him to life on the big screen. Warner Bros. had been trying since 2010, with George Lopez set to voice the character before plans fell through due to concerns about cultural sensitivity. Mexican actor Eugenio Derbez was attached to play Speedy in 2016 but cited a fear of offending Hispanic audiences.

That's all changed now that other beloved Looney Tunes characters have paved the way for Speedy Gonzales' solo debut. As production heats up, fans can look forward to more updates on this exciting project and what they can expect from Gutiérrez's direction.

I'm not sure why it took Warner Bros so long to get Speedy Gonzales right 🤔🎥. I mean, the guy is an iconic character in Latin American culture, and his cartoons are still super popular today! The fact that George Lopez and Eugenio Derbez both dropped out due to concerns about cultural sensitivity is kinda weird... but hey, it's good that they're being more thoughtful about it now 🤗. Jorge R. Gutiérrez seems like a great director, though - 'The Book of Life' was amazing! I'm hoping he brings a fresh take to the Speedy Gonzales movie and does justice to the character 🎉. Can't wait to see what they've got planned...

OMG 🤩 I'm so hyped about Speedy Gonzales finally getting his big-screen debut! I mean, who doesn't love that speedy little guy outsmarting Sylvester & Daffy? The fact that Jorge R. Gutiérrez is at the helm makes me even more excited, he's done an amazing job with 'The Book of Life' and other projects. It's crazy that Warner Bros. tried this like 15 years ago but had to change plans due to cultural concerns... I feel bad for George Lopez & Eugenio Derbez who were attached before. Let's just hope they'll get to see Speedy on the big screen soon! 🎥🐰

man this is gonna be lit 🎥👍 gotta love seeing classic characters like speedy get the big screen treatment again its been a while since we've seen him on our screens but now with director Jorge R Gutierrez at the helm i'm hyped to see how he's gonna bring that fast-moving mexican mouse to life hope it captures some of that lucha libre spirit 😎

I'm kinda hyped about this new Speedy Gonzales movie 🤔💨. I mean, we've been waiting for like, 15 years or something? But hey, it's not like he's the first Looney Tunes character to get a solo film, right? I remember when 'Space Jam' came out, that was a big deal back then... and now, with all these new movies and live-action stuff, I'm just excited to see how they're gonna bring Speedy to life on the big screen 🎥. Jorge R. Gutiérrez seems like a great director for the job, he did some awesome work on 'The Book of Life'... fingers crossed this movie doesn't miss the mark 😅.

I'm so stoked to hear that Speedy Gonzales is finally getting his big-screen debut 🎥! I remember watching those old Looney Tunes cartoons with my abuela when I was a kid, and he was always the coolest cat 🐈... err, mouse. It's about time Warner Bros. gave him the spotlight, you know? I mean, it's not like they've been trying since 2010 or anything 😂. That whole George Lopez thing was a bit of a mess, but I'm glad Eugenio Derbez passed on the role to avoid any cultural faux pas 🙏. Can't wait to see Jorge R. Gutiérrez bring Speedy's sassy attitude and cunning ways to life on the big screen 🎬!

I'm loving the fact that Speedy Gonzales is finally getting his big-screen moment 🎥! I think it's awesome that Jorge R. Gutiérrez is at the helm, he's proven himself with some amazing projects like 'The Book of Life' and 'El Tigre'. It's a testament to how much Latinx talent is making waves in Hollywood right now.

But, let's be real, this film has been in development hell for years, what does that say about Warner Bros.' commitment to diverse storytelling? 🤔 I'm glad they're retooling the project with a fresh perspective. It's all about timing and who's leading the charge on your production line - if it's someone from underrepresented groups, you've got my vote! 💪

I'm super stoked about Speedy Gonzales getting his big-screen debut! 🎥 The fact that Jorge R. Gutiérrez is behind the wheel (no pun intended, haha) gives me a lot of confidence in this project. I mean, have you seen 'The Book of Life' and 'El Tigre'? That guy knows how to bring Latinx culture to life on screen in a way that's both authentic and entertaining.

It's also cool to see how the Looney Tunes universe has evolved over the years, paving the way for more diverse characters like Speedy Gonzales. And let's be real, who doesn't love a plucky little mouse outsmarting those pesky Sylvester and Daffy? 😂 I'm not going to lie, I'm a bit curious about how Gutiérrez is going to approach Speedy's solo adventure – will it stay true to the original cartoons or put his own spin on things?

One thing that's really important to me when it comes to representation in media is cultural sensitivity. It's great to see Warner Bros. taking another shot at this after previous plans fell through due to concerns about offending Hispanic audiences. I'm hoping Gutiérrez and his team will get it right this time around! 🤞

Speedy Gonzales is overdue for a big-screen debut 🐰🎥! I mean, the guy's been around since '53 and has still got that same zany charm. Jorge R. Gutiérrez must be stoked to bring this iconic character to life – his style with 'The Book of Life' was pretty magic ✨. It's also cool to see Warner Bros. giving it another shot after all those years 🔄. As long as they're careful and respectful, I'm hyped to see how Speedy Gonzales shakes things up on the big screen 😁.
