In a devastating turn of events, a mass shooting at a child's birthday party in Stockton, California, has left four people dead and eleven others injured. The victims include three minors aged 8, 9, and 14 years old, as well as an adult of 21.

Eyewitnesses report that the gunfire occurred around 6 pm on Saturday inside a strip mall shopping center, where the birthday party was being held. The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office confirmed that at least one of the injured is in fair condition, while two other adults are receiving treatment for minor and more extensive injuries.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, although officials suspect it may have been a targeted attack. Authorities are still searching for a suspect and have yet to identify anyone responsible. The FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are assisting in the investigation.

Stockton Mayor Christina Fugazi described the incident as "unfathomable" and called on the community to come together to support those affected. She urged anyone with information about the suspect or motive to contact Crime Stoppers.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has also been briefed on the incident, which has sent shockwaves through the city of Stockton, home to over 320,000 residents. The governor's office released a statement condemning the "horrific shooting" and promising to do everything in its power to bring the perpetrator to justice.

As the community grapples with this senseless tragedy, a prayer vigil has been held for the victims' families, seeking solace and comfort during this difficult time.
