I'm thinking, what's going on with these extreme weather events? It feels like every year it gets worse. The cold snap in the US is just brutal - 49 lives lost? That's crazy. And the power outages are no joke too. I mean, can you imagine not having heat for days? 
And then there's Canada, where they're getting hammered with snow. Like, who needs that much snow in one day?
It's just devastating to see all these people affected by nature's wrath.I'm also a bit worried about the mid-Atlantic region this week. I know it's winter and storms are expected, but some of those areas are already dealing with so much damage from other weather events. Can't they catch a break?
But what really got me is the news from Portugal - 3,000 incidents and 5 fatalities? That's just horrific. The strong winds and flooding must have been terrifying for all those people. We need to do more to prepare for these types of storms and protect our communities.
