What’s going on in metro Detroit this week (Oct. 29-Nov. 4) - Detroit Metro Times

omg i'm so jealous i missed out on youmacon this year 🤦‍♀️ anyone know if they released a photo album or something from the event?! also why did no one warn me that detroit was gonna be this lit for halloween lol anyway can someone pls tell me where the northern lights lounge is located? and btw 32nd annual hallowicked with surprise guests sounds EPIC 🎃🔥

I'm a bit skeptical about these big events. I mean, don't get me wrong, they're fun and all, but sometimes I think people overdo it on Halloween. It feels like there's always something to do, somewhere to go, and that can be exhausting. I've been around for a while, and back in the day, we just celebrated with some friends, maybe had a bonfire or two, and called it a night. Nowadays, it's all about the crowds and the commercialization... 🤔🎃

I'm tellin' ya, back in my day we didn't have all these fancy events like Youmacon 🎃. We just threw a party and had fun, no fancy tickets or lines for photos 🤣. And now it's all about getting your face painted and dressing up in costumes... I mean, I'm not complaining, but where did it all go wrong? 🤔 Anyway, Ford's trunk-or-treating thing sounds like a blast for the kiddos 👶. But let me tell you, back in my day we used to have real Halloween parties with actual horror movies and creepy decorations 😱. Not this watered-down stuff... just sayin' 😉

I'm down for all this Halloween fun in Detroit 🎃. Youmacon is always a highlight for anime and pop culture fans, but I wish they'd drop the prices a bit - $75 for a one-day pass seems steep to me 💸. On the other hand, a bar crawl sounds like an epic way to celebrate Halloween with friends 🍻👫. And Ford's "trunk-or-treating" event is super cute! 🚗🎃 I'm also stoked about the Insane Clown Posse's Hallowicked show - Faygo-fueled raves are always a blast 💥.

I've got some reservations about Northern Lights Lounge's Halloween DJ night, though. Marcellus Pittman is awesome and all, but can't they just make sure the lineups are more diverse? 🤔 And what's up with no vegan or vegetarian food options at these events? It's 2025, guys! 🌱🍴
