Why we have to continue with animal testing for medical research | Letters

its complicated... cant just ditch animal testing altogether. those techs who work with animals are super smart & trained, dont wanna lose them ๐Ÿ˜. but at the same time, alternatives need more cash & research ๐Ÿค‘๐Ÿ’ธ gotta find a balance tho ๐Ÿค”. some areas can use new methods now, like toxicity tests, but others might take yrs to get there ๐Ÿ’ก. hope they keep working on it tho ๐Ÿ‘

OMG, have you tried those new vegan ice cream flavors? ๐Ÿฆ I mean, I know this isn't related at all, but I was just thinking about it and my mind went off on a tangent. Anyway, back to animal testing... I feel like we're not being realist about how complex biology is. It's like trying to assemble IKEA furniture without instructions โ€“ it just doesn't work that way! ๐Ÿคฃ

I mean, sure, NAMs are cool and all, but we can't expect them to solve everything overnight. And what about all those animal tech experts? They're like the unsung heroes of science. I guess the key is finding a balance between using animals in research and developing these new alternative methods. ๐Ÿค”

I donโ€™t usually comment but... I think it's kinda sad when people say we gotta ditch animal testing altogether ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿ˜”. Like, I get where they're coming from - we want our furry friends to be happy and all that ๐Ÿ’–. But at the same time, if it means delaying medical breakthroughs by like 10 years or something, is it really worth it? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

I mean, some of these new NAMs are pretty cool, but they're not quite there yet ๐Ÿ”ฅ. And what about all the scientists who've dedicated their lives to studying animal testing? Like, what's gonna happen to them if we just stop doing it completely? ๐Ÿ’”

It's all about finding that balance, I guess ๐Ÿค. We can't just keep using animals for research or we'll be in trouble with all the animal lovers out there ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. And we can't just ditch them cold turkey without having alternative methods ready to go... it's a bit of a sticky situation, if you ask me ๐Ÿ˜ฌ.

I'm so glad someone's speaking up for us platform users ๐Ÿ™Œ! I mean, think about it, we're the ones who make this thing go round, and yet everyone's always like "fix the problem" without even considering what our needs are.

Animal testing might be a necessary evil, but let's not forget that we're talking about alternative methods here - organoids and organs-on-a-chip, yeah! They might not be perfect, but they're getting there ๐Ÿš€. And who says it's gotta be an all-or-nothing thing? Can't we just scale back on animal testing in certain areas where the alternatives are already working?

I'm all for investment in these new techs, but come on, we can't just abandon ship without considering the experts - like animal technologists ๐Ÿค–. They've got skills and knowledge that are hard to replace.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. We need a balanced approach, one that takes into account both our needs and those of the animals in research ๐Ÿ’. It's all about finding that sweet spot where progress happens without sacrificing our future ๐Ÿ’ก.
