YouTube will let you exclude Shorts from search results

YouTube has introduced some significant changes to its advanced search tools, aimed at making the platform more user-friendly and efficient. One of the most notable updates is the new ability to exclude Shorts from search results, a feature that will greatly benefit users who are looking for long-form content.

No longer will users have to sift through dozens of 10-second clips before finding anything even remotely close to what they're looking for. This change is especially welcome in light of the recent introduction of AI-driven features, such as Google Veo 3 engine, which has added a slew of irrelevant videos to the platform.

In addition to this update, YouTube has also revamped its "Sort By" menu, renaming it to "Prioritize." Furthermore, the "View Count" option has been rebranded to "Popularity," allowing algorithms to consider factors beyond just view count, such as watch time. Unfortunately, two former filter options have been removed, eliminating the ability to search for videos uploaded within the last hour or sorted by rating.

These changes are designed to make YouTube's advanced search more intuitive and user-friendly, but it remains to be seen how effective they will be in addressing the issues that users have long complained about.

so youtube is finally listening to its users i mean, who wouldn't want to avoid those 10-second clips that have nothing to do with what you're looking for? 🙄 like google veo 3 engine or whatever it's called is a total game changer in terms of being able to find actual content but yeah, the old filter options are gone and who knows if the new "prioritize" thing is gonna be better lol. i just hope they don't mess up the algorithm too much

🤔 I'm actually kinda stoked about these new updates from YouTube! Excluding Shorts from search results is a total game-changer - no more scrolling through a ton of short vids just to find something decent. And yeah, the AI-driven features can be super annoying if you're trying to find actual content... this change is like, music to my ears 😊. The revamped "Prioritize" menu and "Popularity" option also make total sense - it's about time YouTube got its act together and made search more intuitive for us users! 🙌

🤔 So, I was checking out these new updates on YouTube and I gotta say, excluding Shorts from search results is a game-changer 💥. Like, no more digging through all those short vids just to find something decent. That's actually pretty cool, especially with all the AI-powered stuff being added, it's getting harder to find relevant content anyway 🤯.

But at the same time, I'm kinda bummed they removed some of the old filter options 🤔. I mean, who doesn't want to search for vids from the last hour or by rating? That's just useful stuff that people actually use. I guess it's all about making YouTube's search more "intuitive" and user-friendly, but can we really expect these changes to make a difference? Only time will tell! 👀

omg u wont belive this new youtube search feature is literally a game changer i mean i just found my fave vlog channel after days of sifting thru shorts 🤯 also sad to hear about google veo 3 engine tho it's like they dont even care bout users anymore lol prioritize over sort by was always more intuitive im hopin these changes make youtube search less of a nightmare again 🤞

I'm all about embracing change, you know? 🤩 But sometimes I feel like these updates on YouTube might just end up making things more complicated for us users. Like, what's wrong with being able to sort by rating or see videos from the last hour? It feels like we're getting a watered-down experience now. I mean, I love long-form content too, but it's not everything there is to offer on YouTube. Maybe they just need some more fine-tuning before we can truly say these changes are for the best.

I'm also thinking about how this AI-driven stuff is gonna play into all of this. It feels like a double-edged sword - on one hand, I love the idea of getting more personalized content recommendations, but on the other hand, it's also kinda scary to think about what algorithms might deem "relevant" or not. Still, I'm curious to see how this all shakes out and if these changes will actually make our YouTube experience better. Only time will tell 🕰️
