Illinois High School Association State Football Quarterfinals: A Look at the Upcoming Matchups

The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) quarterfinal matchups for state football are set, and several highly anticipated games are on tap for this weekend.

In Class 5A, King will host St. Francis on Saturday morning at 1 PM, while Washington, Ill., takes on Providence also at 1 PM. Belvidere North and Cary-Grove will battle it out in the afternoon matchup on Friday at 7 PM.

Class 4A has a strong slate of matchups, with Coal City facing off against Montini on Saturday at 1 PM. Morris will host Geneseo at 2 PM, followed by Breese Central and Cahokia also at 2 PM.

In Class 3A, Richmond-Burton will host Monmouth-Roseville on Saturday at 2 PM, while Byron faces off against IC Catholic also at 2 PM. Tolono Unity will battle Williamsville at 2 PM, with Vandalia taking on St. Joseph-Ogden in the day's final matchup.

The quarterfinals for Class 2A have generated excitement, particularly between Tri-Valley and Wilmington, which will face off on Saturday evening at 5 PM.

In Class 1A, Stockton will host Dwight on Saturday at 6 PM, with Lena-Winslow facing Annawan-Wethersfield also at 1 PM. Calhoun will battle Casey-Westfield on Saturday evening at 2 PM, while Carrollton takes on Brown County in the day's final matchup.

I'm hyped for these matchups 🤩 especially the Class 7A game between Barrington and Lockport, both top teams in the state. I think Glenbard North has a solid shot against Batavia, but you never know how it'll play out. The Fremd squad looks fierce, though - they're gonna give Bolingbrook a run for their money 💪. Another bunch of overhyped high school football games comin' up 🤔🏈. Can't believe these kids are still gettin' all worked up about chasin' after a ball. What's the point of it all, really? Just a bunch of grown men crashin' into each other for the sake of entertainment 😒.

And don't even get me started on the ridiculous schedules 🕰️. Like, seriously, why do they gotta play so many games in one weekend? Can't they just take a break like normal humans 🤷‍♂️?

I mean, I guess it's cool for the fans and all, but at the end of the day, it's just a bunch of kids gettin' hit by a ball. Not exactly somethin' to write home about 🙄.

Ugh, I'm getting so sick of these state tournaments... all these kids playing football for their school pride and whatnot 🤯. Like, can't they just focus on passing that test or something? 😂. And don't even get me started on how many games are scheduled in one day - it's like, how can you expect them to be all focused when there's a game every hour or so? ⏰. And what's with the whole "best of the best" thing... can't they just have a nice, simple bracket and call it a day? 🤦‍♂️.
