A Chicago cop narrowly escaped serious injury after being struck by a fleeing driver on Wednesday night. The incident occurred when officers pulled over a vehicle for a traffic infraction at 8:24 p.m. in the 5700 block of South State Street, prompting the woman behind the wheel to speed away, hitting one officer in the foot.
The suspect vehicle then careened out of control, eventually colliding with another SUV in the 2600 block of South State Street. The two suspects were apprehended at the scene, bringing an end to a chaotic pursuit that had left police shaken.
Miraculously, the officer who was hit, along with both suspects, received medical attention – the woman driving the suspect vehicle was taken to Insight Hospital for treatment, while the injured cop was airlifted to a nearby hospital in fair condition. Charges against the two suspects are pending, as authorities continue to process evidence and build their case.

! I mean, fleeing from cops is never a good idea, you know? And for her to speed away and hit that officer... crazy! Thankfully the cop's foot wasn't too bad and he's going to be okay.

I mean, can you even imagine what that driver would've done if they hit him in a life-threatening spot? Like, seriously, the woman's driving skills are straight up sketchy 
I'm not surprised the cops had to pull them over though, those speeders think they own the road 
And poor officer, ouch on that foot 
Glad it wasn't worse. The police were totally justified in chasing after her and making sure everyone's safe 
Now let's get those two suspects booked ASAP!

It's always the ones doing the right thing that get hurt in these pursuits 
. The fact that the suspects got caught is great and all, but what about the mental toll on the officers involved? I feel bad for them, man... they're the real heroes here 
. And another thing, why do people speed away from cops like it's no big deal? 
It just shows a lack of respect for law enforcement, you know? 
. The cop was lucky, no doubt about it. I mean, can you imagine if this had happened to, like, a kid or something? It's just heartbreaking

, it could've been way worse. I mean can you even imagine what it would be like to be in their shoes? The adrenaline rush, the fear, the uncertainty... it's just crazy how fast things escalated. I hope the suspects are facing serious charges though, they were putting lives at risk

I guess you never really know what people are going through, right? Anyway, it just makes me want to be even more patient on the roads and hope that everyone gets out safely
