Aston Villa has completed a dramatic comeback in the Europa League, beating Red Bull Salzburg 2-1 at Villa Park to finish second in the competition's league phase. The victory marked Villa's first win in five games and propelled them above Lyon to take second place in Group B.

Lyon finished top of the group with four wins from six matches, while Villa secured their spot by accumulating more points than Salzburg despite losing two of their six games.

Sean Dyche's side thrashed Ferencvaros 4-0 and Celtic scored three goals inside the first 20 minutes on their way to a 4-2 win over Utrecht.

Meanwhile, Rangers suffered another away defeat in Europe, losing 3-1 at Porto. The Scottish club has now lost six consecutive matches in European competition.

The other teams that qualified for the Europa League knockout phase are Nottingham Forest and Celtic, who advanced to February's play-off round after finishing above their respective groups.
