Sweetgreen, a popular fast-casual chain known for its fresh salads and bowls, is set to open its first location in downtown Detroit, marking the sixth spot in Michigan. The new restaurant will be situated at One Campus Martius building and promises to bring Sweetgreen's take on healthy, real food to the heart of the city.
According to Chris Tarrant, Chief Development Officer at Sweetgreen, "Detroit has an undeniable momentum right now, and we're honored to be part of it." He added that the company looks forward to connecting with regional suppliers like Zingerman's Creamery and Riverridge Produce. This commitment to local sourcing reflects Sweetgreen's dedication to serving fresh ingredients in its menu items.
The Detroit location will celebrate its grand opening from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, featuring special collaborations with local businesses such as Bon Bon Bon for sweets and Earthy Botanical Mobile Bar for warm drinks. One Custom City, a local apparel company, will also be present with live screen printing activities.
As part of its grand opening, Sweetgreen has pledged to donate one meal to Detroit's Forgotten Harvest charity for every meal purchased during this event. This commitment highlights the company's efforts to give back to the community while serving high-quality food.
With six locations now in Michigan, Sweetgreen looks forward to expanding its presence in Detroit and contributing to the city's vibrant food scene.
