Philadelphia Brewing Co. is gearing up for a spooktacular celebration this holiday season as it partners with the East Kensington Arts Committee to host Haunted Christmas on December 13th.
From noon until 7 p.m., the venue will transform into a winter wonderland of weird and wonderful delights, featuring an array of vendors, performances, and events that defy traditional notions of the festive season. For one day only, the usually tranquil East Kensington neighborhood will become a hotbed of quirky entertainment, courtesy of Philly's very own Krampus.
The half-goat, half-demon creature will make appearances throughout the afternoon, bringing its own brand of mischief to the proceedings through roaming interactions and photo opportunities. In between Krampus sightings, audiences can indulge in some authentic Slavic folk music performances by Sing Slavic, a group of women, trans, and nonbinary singers who share traditions from Ukraine, Bulgaria, Poland, and Russia.
In the afternoon, The Ghosts of Gingerband Past will treat attendees to a haunting blend of festive tunes and theatrical flair, backed up by a talented ensemble of musicians. Meanwhile, Screwball Screenings will showcase an eclectic mix of oddball films alongside work from local artists, providing a platform for creative experimentation and discovery.
As night begins to fall, the festivities will culminate in "Krampus Gets Cramped," a PG-13 shadow puppet show that injects retro rock vibes into the proceedings. For one enchanting evening, Philly's residents are invited to abandon their holiday worries and immerse themselves in a strange and spirited twist on the festive season β all for free.
