A 19-year-old Haverhill resident has been charged with murder in connection to the fatal shooting of a Lawrence man last September. Hector Mota, who is just a year older than his alleged victim, Hugo Delrosario, 27, was taken into custody on Monday by Essex County authorities.
According to court documents, Mota is also facing additional charges, including carrying a loaded firearm without a license and possessing an unlicensed firearm. The Lawrence District Court has ordered him held without bail, pending a probable cause hearing scheduled for February 5.
Mota's arrest marks the culmination of an ongoing investigation into Delrosario's shooting death, which occurred in September. While details surrounding the incident remain scarce, law enforcement officials have confirmed that Mota is the primary suspect in the case.
An attorney representing Mota has declined to comment on the matter, leaving it unclear what circumstances led to the young man's arrest and subsequent charges. The court hearing set for February 5 is expected to provide further insight into the case, although a specific date for Delrosario's trial remains unknown at this time.
