"It f**king sucks": Lillard responds to Tarantino criticism

Quentin Tarantino recently ignited a firestorm when he disparaged Paul Dano, casting him as "a big, giant flaw" in the film "There Will Be Blood." However, Dano's co-star Damian Lillard took exception to Tarantino's jab at his own acting abilities.

Speaking candidly on Bret Easton Ellis' podcast, Lillard made it clear that he was not a fan of Tarantino's remarks, describing them as an attack on someone else who might be more vulnerable. "It hurts your feelings, it f**king sucks," Lillard said to the audience, sparking boos and murmurs.

Tarantino claimed that Dano doesn't possess any unique qualities that set him apart from other actors in his class, which includes Owen Wilson and himself. The director even suggested that someone like Austin Butler would have been a better fit for the role.

Lillard disputed Tarantino's assertion, stating that he wouldn't dare insult an established Hollywood star like Tom Cruise. "He wouldn’t say that to Tom Cruise. He wouldn’t say that to somebody who’s a top-line actor in Hollywood," Lillard said.

Simu Liu and Alec Baldwin have since rallied around Dano, praising his talents on social media platforms. Despite Tarantino's comments sparking controversy, it appears that many in the industry are standing by Dano, recognizing his impressive acting abilities.

I'm so over Quentin Tarantino's condescending attitude 😒. Like, if he can't even get a script right without dissing someone's performance, maybe he should just stick to making movies about shootouts and not trying to be a casting director 🤦‍♂️. And honestly, it's kind of rich that he's calling out Paul Dano for being "a big, giant flaw" in the film when his own flicks are full of problematic characters and plotlines 🙄. The fact that Damian Lillard stood up to him is awesome though - someone needs to tell Tarantino to pipe down sometimes 💁‍♂️.

omg what a drama 🤯 i feel bad for paul dano, tarantino is super harsh and doesn't have to say those things, especially when you're talking about someone's work 🙄 but at the same time, damian lillard has every right to speak up and defend his friend, it's all about being true to yourself and your feelings 💯 i also think it's cool that simu liu and alec baldwin are supporting dano on social media, he definitely deserves some love ❤️ tarantino might be a legend in the film industry, but that doesn't mean we have to like his attitude 😒

I'm low-key shook at this whole Quentin Tarantino drama 😮! Like, I get it, he's got opinions and all, but dissing Paul Dano like that? It's harsh 🤕. Damian Lillard speaking up for him is a total win 💯. And can we talk about how much of an establishment Tarantino thinks he is? Newsflash, QT: you don't get to trash someone just 'cause they're not in your league 💔.

I think it's cool that Simu Liu and Alec Baldwin are showing support for Dano, though 🙌. He's definitely got some acting chops under his belt 🎬. Maybe we should be talking about why Tarantino was so hard on him in the first place? What was he really trying to say? 🤔

😅 So I've been looking at some data on Tarantino's film ratings over the years and it's crazy how consistent he's been. I mean, 8.1/10 average rating across all his films is no joke! 🤯 But what's even more interesting is that 'There Will Be Blood' (2007) has a slightly lower rating of 8.0/10, which might be partly due to the controversy surrounding it.

And let's talk about Paul Dano - he's had an impressive career with notable roles in films like 'Little Miss Sunshine' (2006), '12 Years a Slave' (2013), and 'Love & Mercy' (2014). I've got some data on his box office performance, and it shows that his movies have consistently done well at the box office. 👍

Meanwhile, Damian Lillard's comments about Tarantino's remarks sparked quite a reaction - I did a quick analysis of his Twitter following and engagement rates, and it looks like he has a strong connection with fans! 📈 But what's even more telling is that Simu Liu and Alec Baldwin are supporting Dano on social media. According to my data, they've both got huge followings across platforms, so it'll be interesting to see how this plays out in the industry.

I just wish I had some more info on Tarantino's comments about Austin Butler... any insights would be super helpful! 🤔

omg i feel bad for paul dano 🤕, quentin tarantino's harsh words really hurt him 🎬😔, but damian lillard is totally on point 👏, he stood up for dano and called out tarantino's mean comment 😡👊, it's crazy how tarantino dissed someone without even knowing them well 🤷‍♀️, and now simu liu and alec baldwin are defending dano 💕🙌, tarantino might have sparked a controversy but he's definitely missing out on some good karma 😒

OMG I AM SO FED UP WITH TARANTINO'S BEHAVIOR !! 🤯 HE THINKS HE CAN JUST DISRESPECT ANOTHER ACTOR LIKE THAT AND GET AWAY WITH IT ?? NO WAY JOSE ! 💁‍♂️ SIMU LIU AND ALEC BALDWIN SPEAKING OUT FOR PAUL DANO IS THE BEST THING I'VE SEEN ALL WEEK !! 🙌 AND LET'S BE REAL, TARANTINO'S BEEN AROUND LONG ENOUGH TO KNOW BETTER THAN TO TALK TRASH ABOUT SOMEONE ELSE'S ACTING ABILITIES LIKE THAT . HE SHOULD FOCUS ON HIS OWN MOVIES INSTEAD OF TRYING TO BRING DOWN OTHER PEOPLE'S CRED ! 🎥

I don't get why all this fuss over some movie casting decision 🤔. Tarantino just said what he thinks and Lillard took offense, fair enough I guess 😊. But come on, if you can't handle a little criticism, maybe you shouldn't be in showbiz? I mean, Dano's clearly got skills, Simu Liu and Alec Baldwin know what they're talking about 🙌... Tarantino's just trying to stir up drama for attention, it's all a bit much for me 🤯. Can we just watch the movie now and see how it plays out?

I'm low-key annoyed with Quentin Tarantino right now 🤔🎬. Like, come on man! His diss towards Paul Dano was super harsh and unnecessary 😒. I feel bad for Dano, 'cause everyone deserves respect in the industry, especially from someone who's supposedly a master of his craft 🙄.

I love how Damian Lillard called Tarantino out on it tho 💁‍♂️🔥. It takes courage to speak up like that and not hold back 🗣️. And btw, I'm all for Simu Liu and Alec Baldwin defending Dano - he's a talented actor who deserves our appreciation 👏💫.

😒 I don't get why Damian Lillard is making such a big deal about Quentin Tarantino's comments? Like, isn't it just an opinion? 🤔 I mean, Tarantino is known for being brutally honest, and if he thinks Paul Dano doesn't bring anything new to the table, who cares? 🙃 It's not like Tarantino was dissing Dano personally. And btw, what makes Lillard think Austin Butler would've been a better fit? Hasn't Butler had his own share of controversies with roles? 🤷‍♂️ Anyway, I'm still waiting for some solid sources on this one... where's the evidence? 💡

I gotta say, I think Damian Lillard was way too harsh on Quentin Tarantino 🤔. I mean, we all know Tarantino can be a bit brutal when he's critiquing other people's work, but come on, Lillard took it to the next level 😒. And what's with all these celebrities jumping to Paul Dano's defense? I think Tarantino's just trying to stir up some conversation and maybe even challenge his own audience 🤯. But honestly, if Tarantino thinks Dano's not got what it takes, who are we to disagree? The dude's been in the industry for ages, he knows what works and what doesn't 💁‍♂️.
