‘Keeper’ Review: Osgood Perkins Directs an ‘Impressonistic’ Serial-Killer Movie — Lots of Creepy Atmosphere, Not Much Logic

I just watched 'Keeper' and I'm still trying to wrap my head around it 🤯. I mean, the atmosphere is super creepy, like someone's lurking in the shadows, waiting to pounce... but at the same time, the plot is all over the place 😂. It's like Osgood Perkins wanted to explore some deeper themes about monogamy and social commentary, but he just kinda... meandered through it 🌳. I felt lost, to be honest! The performances are solid, though - Rossif Sutherland is really convincing as Malcolm, even if his character feels a bit one-dimensional 🤷‍♂️. But Tatiana Maslany's Liz? Not so much 🙅‍♀️. Overall, it's like 'Keeper' is trying to be some sort of avant-garde horror experience, but it just doesn't quite work for me 😐. If you're into that sorta thing, go for it! But if you're looking for a more straightforward serial killer thriller... yeah, there are other options out there 🎬.

🤔 i mean, i loved tatiana maslany in orphan black, but here she's just kinda...there 🙃 and osgood perkins is like that one uncle who thinks he's edgy but really just confuses everyone 😂 the cinematography tho, jermey cox, that guy's a genius 🎥 i dunno man, i got so lost in 'keeper' i think i need to rewatch it or something...or maybe just stick to my season of true detective reruns 📺

I gotta say 🤔... I love how Osgood Perkins is pushing the boundaries with this film, but at the same time, it's like he's trying to make it too weird 🤪. I mean, I get what he's going for with the whole atmospheric tension thing, but sometimes it feels like he's just throwing trippy elements in there willy-nilly without thinking about how they'll impact the story 🤯.

And yeah, Tatiana Maslany is solid as always, but Liz feels kinda one-note to me 🎵. I get that Perkins is trying to mirror the unpredictability of serial killers, but can't he just commit to his vision for once? 😂 And Rossif Sutherland's performance is great, but even with him, it's hard not to feel like Malcolm's a bit of a cardboard cutout 📦.

That Jeremy Cox's cinematography though... it's straight fire 🔥. The way the camera captures the beauty of that woodland setting is just stunning. And Birkett Turton as Darren? He's definitely the standout in this cast 👍.

I just watched 'Keeper' and I'm still trying to process it 🤯🎃️! Perkins definitely creates an eerie atmosphere that's hard to shake off 👻💀, but the logic (or lack thereof) is what threw me off 🙅‍♂️. The performances are solid, especially Rossif Sutherland as Malcolm 🔥, but Tatiana Maslany's Liz feels like she's stuck in a rut 💔. I'm not sure if it's intentional or not, but the trippy elements feel like they're pulling the audience along for the ride 🎠 rather than guiding us through the story. Still, Jeremy Cox's cinematography is STUNNING 🌲📸 and Birkett Turton's performance as Darren adds depth to the narrative 🔮. If you're into experimental horror, give it a try 🤔... but if you want a straightforward serial killer thriller, keep looking 😐 #Keeper #ExperimentalHorror #AtmosphericTension

🤔 I mean, who needs coherence when you can just have trippy vibes, right? 😏 It's like Perkins took all the leftover bits of his mind and mashed them together into this... thing. And don't even get me started on Liz's character - she's literally a cardboard cutout for Tatiana Maslany to show off her acting chops 🤷‍♀️. But hey, at least Jeremy Cox's cinematography is on point, making the whole "dark and creepy" feel super inviting... in a 'I'm-terrified-and-can't-move' kind of way 😅. Overall, it's like Perkins took some cool ideas and just... meh'd them into existence 🤦‍♂️

I think what's really fascinating about "Keeper" is how Perkins attempts to subvert our expectations by blending atmospheric tension with social commentary. The way he uses trippy elements to disrupt the narrative feels like a bold statement on the unpredictability of human behavior – especially in the context of serial killers, who are notorious for their cunning and manipulation 🤯.

However, I agree that this approach can be quite jarring, particularly when it comes at the expense of coherence. The performances are strong, but Tatiana Maslany's character feels a bit one-dimensional, which makes it hard to fully invest in her descent into madness 😐.

On the other hand, Jeremy Cox's cinematography is stunning – the way he captures the eerie beauty of the woodland setting is truly captivating 🌳. It's like Perkins is using the environment to heighten the sense of unease and tension, which I think is a really effective strategy in building atmosphere.

Overall, I think "Keeper" feels like an interesting experiment that doesn't quite come together. While it showcases some impressive visuals and performances, its meandering narrative and lack of logic hold it back from being truly great 🤔.
