I just watched 'Keeper' and I'm still trying to wrap my head around it
. I mean, the atmosphere is super creepy, like someone's lurking in the shadows, waiting to pounce... but at the same time, the plot is all over the place
. It's like Osgood Perkins wanted to explore some deeper themes about monogamy and social commentary, but he just kinda... meandered through it
. I felt lost, to be honest! The performances are solid, though - Rossif Sutherland is really convincing as Malcolm, even if his character feels a bit one-dimensional
. But Tatiana Maslany's Liz? Not so much
. Overall, it's like 'Keeper' is trying to be some sort of avant-garde horror experience, but it just doesn't quite work for me
. If you're into that sorta thing, go for it! But if you're looking for a more straightforward serial killer thriller... yeah, there are other options out there
.
