Medusa celebrates grand opening in Detroit’s Midtown - Detroit Metro Times

Medusa Brings Mediterranean Flair to Detroit's Midtown

Detroiters gathered at the newly opened Medusa, a restaurant in the heart of Midtown, to experience the rich flavors of Sicily and the Mediterranean. Located just down the street from acclaimed Italian eatery SheWolf Pastificio & Bar, Chef Anthony Lombardo's latest venture promises an authentic taste of this special region.

At Medusa, guests can expect simple yet bold dishes that highlight the beauty of olive oil, capers, olives, tomatoes, and anchovies. According to Lombardo, "The food's simple" – a deliberate choice designed to let these ingredients shine in the spotlight. By sharing stories through their menu, service, and hospitality, Medusa aims to educate its patrons about the unique cultural heritage of Sicily.

This isn't the first restaurant to occupy the space, however; it has been home to other concepts such as Smith & Co., Vigilante Kitchen + Bar, and Epiphany – Nain Rouge Kitchen. Will Medusa be able to carve out a lasting presence in Midtown? Only time will tell.

For now, those eager to try Lombardo's culinary vision can make reservations by visiting medusa-detroit.com.

Don't @ me, but I'm already makin' reservations! 📅

just tried medusa last nite and omg the eggplant parmesan is LIFE.CHANGING 🤩🍴 i mean, who knew anchovies could be so good? i was a bit skeptical at first but the chef's story about his sicilian heritage really added to the experience. and the atmosphere is super cozy, perfect for a date night or just a girls' night out with friends 💃. the service was also top notch, our server was so knowledgeable about the menu it made me feel like i was dining on an italian vacation 🇮🇹. fingers crossed medusa sticks around and becomes a detroit fave spot 👍

🤔 The thing that caught my attention about Medusa is how they're not just serving up Sicilian food, but also sharing the culture behind it 🌿. I love that they're incorporating storytelling into their menu and service – it's a great way to educate people about this beautiful region without feeling like they're being preached to. It's all about community and connection, you know? And let's be real, who doesn't love a good olive oil and anchovy combo? 🤤 The fact that the space has had so many different concepts before Medusa just adds to the excitement – it's like a blank canvas waiting for someone to put their mark on it. Only time will tell if Medusa can make it in Midtown, but I'm definitely rooting for them! 👍

just had that place on my radar 🤔 and gotta say, the idea of a simple yet bold menu is kinda refreshing after all the fuss around over-the-top restaurants... might be just what midtown needs, less pretentious vibes 👌 also love how they're highlighting the cultural heritage of sicily, it's about time we learn more about our global culinary influences 🍝

Medusa better watch its back tho, it's right across from SheWolf, that place is like the OG spot in Midtown 🤷‍♂️💁‍♀️. Chef Anthony is gonna have to bring his A-game if he wants to keep up with that Italian magic 💫🍝. Still, I'm low-key hyped for some Sicilian vibes in this city, can't wait to sink my teeth into those capers and olives 🤤👌. One thing's for sure, it's gonna be an interesting competition for the crown 👑.

I'm so down for Medusa! I love the vibe of Midtown and it's always great to see more spots popping up. That menu sounds amazing - olive oil is like the best sauce ever 💦. I'm intrigued that Chef Lombardo wants to share stories through his food, that sounds really cool 📚. The fact that it's in a spot that's already had other concepts is interesting, but I think Medusa's got a unique energy that'll set it apart. Plus, I love that you can book reservations online - makes it so easy to try out 📅. Can't wait to see how it plays out!

I think it's kinda cool that Chef Anthony is keeping it real with simple dishes that let the Mediterranean flavors shine 💡. I mean, who needs fancy-schmancy food when you've got fresh olives and capers doing all the talking? 🤷‍♂️ Plus, it's awesome that he's sharing stories about Sicily through his menu – education is key, right? 📚 And I love how he's embracing the space as a blank canvas to try out new ideas. Maybe Medusa will be the next big thing in Midtown? 🤞 Only time will tell, but I'm hyped to give it a shot 😊.

OMG, I'm so stoked for this new restaurant! I mean, who doesn't love Italian food, right? 🍝 I've been hearing great things about it from my friends and family, and I need to try it out ASAP! I'm a big fan of anchovies on pizza, so I'm sure I'll love the dishes they have here. And hey, supporting local chefs is always a win in my book! 😊 The fact that they're sharing stories through their menu is really cool too - it's not just about the food, it's about the culture and history behind it.

I've been to Midtown before, but I never knew there was so much talent around. It's like, we already have a great spot with SheWolf Pastificio & Bar... now we have Medusa! 🤩 Can't wait to go back and try some of Chef Lombardo's creations. Has anyone else tried it out? 💬

I'm not sure what's more impressive - the food or the decor 😊. I mean, have you seen that dining room? It's like stepping into a Mediterranean palace! But seriously, Chef Lombardo seems to be onto something with this whole 'simple yet bold' thing. Olive oil is where it's at, am I right? 🤩 I'm intrigued by the story-sharing aspect of the menu - hope they don't get too caught up in it and lose sight of the food. Can't wait to try it out! 👌

🍝 I'm kinda curious about this new place, Medusa... sounds like it's all about embracing the simple yet powerful flavors of Sicily. Chef Anthony Lombardo seems like a cool cat who knows his stuff, and I love that he's not trying to overcomplicate things with fancy sauces or whatnot. Just letting those Mediterranean staples shine is a solid approach if you ask me 🌿💦

The fact that Chef Anthony Lombardo is sharing stories through his menu and service really resonates with me. I love how he's emphasizing the simplicity of those ingredients, you know? I'm also curious to see if Medusa can hold its own in a neighborhood filled with amazing eateries. But hey, who doesn't love trying new things and exploring flavors from different parts of the world? I've got my reservation already!

I don’t usually comment but... I went past Midtown last week and I was thinking about how crazy it is for Detroit to have a bunch of new restaurants pop up like that? I mean, it’s not every day you see this many foodie options in one neighborhood. Medusa looks pretty cool tho 🤤 - the pics on Instagram are giving me some serious Italian vibes. I don’t know what it’ll be like when I go there but if the reviews are good maybe I’ll have to give it a try?

just had the most interesting experience at medusa 🤔... it's like they took all the charm of the mediterranean and just kinda dropped it in midtown detroit... i mean, who needs that much olives on a plate? but hey, if you're into that sorta thing, i guess it's an "authentic" taste of sicily or whatever 🤷‍♀️

🍝 just heard about the new restaurant Medusa in Detroit's Midtown and I'm so stoked! Who wouldn't want a taste of Sicily in the heart of America? 🌊 Chef Anthony Lombardo's approach to food is super refreshing - simple yet bold, and all about letting those gorgeous Mediterranean ingredients shine. I love how he's sharing stories through his menu, service, and hospitality... it's like getting a culinary tour of Sicily! 💬 Can't wait to try Medusa out for myself, and see if they can really make a lasting impression on the Detroit food scene 🤞

omg just tried Medusa in midtown detroit and i'm HOOKED 🤯 their caprese salad is on point, all that fresh mozzarella and basil, not too much like the ones at she wolf but still amazing! chef anthony lombardo knows what's up with mediterranean vibes. got to try some of those olives and anchovies too, love how simple yet flavorful everything is 🤤 5 stars from me 👍

🤔 I went there last night and honestly the ambiance is on point 💃. Food was decent, nothing mind blowing but it felt like my nonna used to cook 🍝. The service was super friendly though 👍. What's got me thinking tho is that Midtown is missing a bit of that Italian vibes it had back in the day 🤔. SheWolf still holds a special spot in my heart ❤️, this new kid on the block needs to step up its game 🚀!
