Man... these numbers are just heartbreaking
. It's like, what's going on with our society? We're supposed to be teaching kids how to navigate the world, but it feels like we're abandoning them at the most vulnerable moments. Foster care and residential care should be a safety net, not a recipe for disaster.
I think about my own life, growing up in a pretty stable home, and I just can't imagine what it must be like for these kids. No love, no support, no guidance... how do you survive that? It's crazy to me that we're expecting them to figure it out on their own. We need to rethink our entire system and make sure we're providing the kind of support that lasts a lifetime, not just until they turn 18.
We need to talk about why this is happening and what we can do to change it. Is it lack of funding? Lack of resources? Lack of care? I don't know... but one thing's for sure: we can't just sit back and wait for things to get better. We gotta take action, and we gotta do it now
