One in four UK teenagers in care have attempted to end their lives, study says

Man... these numbers are just heartbreaking 🤕. It's like, what's going on with our society? We're supposed to be teaching kids how to navigate the world, but it feels like we're abandoning them at the most vulnerable moments. Foster care and residential care should be a safety net, not a recipe for disaster.

I think about my own life, growing up in a pretty stable home, and I just can't imagine what it must be like for these kids. No love, no support, no guidance... how do you survive that? It's crazy to me that we're expecting them to figure it out on their own. We need to rethink our entire system and make sure we're providing the kind of support that lasts a lifetime, not just until they turn 18.

We need to talk about why this is happening and what we can do to change it. Is it lack of funding? Lack of resources? Lack of care? I don't know... but one thing's for sure: we can't just sit back and wait for things to get better. We gotta take action, and we gotta do it now 💡

🤕 this is so worrying, i mean 1/4 of uk teenagers in care are trying to end their lives 🤯 it's like a national emergency, but what's being done about it? 🤔 they need more than just mental health support at 18, they need it for the rest of their life 📆 and we can't just blame the system, it's the kids who are suffering here 😢

🤕😱 I'm literally speechless about these stats... one in four UK teenagers who've been in foster or residential care are trying to end their lives? That's just heartbreaking! 🤕 It's like, what's going on with our society that we're not providing enough support for these kids? I mean, the fact that 26% of 17-year-olds in care have already attempted suicide is just... wow. And six in ten have self-harmed? That's just devastating. We need to step up and do more than just throw some mental health resources their way. We need a family-focused approach that stays with them for life, not just until they turn 18 and suddenly disappear into the system. It's time for systemic change, folks! 🔄💪
