. Establishing uniform background checks and psychological screenings for first responders is a huge step in the right direction

. But, at the same time, I'm a bit skeptical about how quickly this all gonna happen

. We've seen similar promises made before, with little to no action taken

. I need to see some concrete progress on these calls to action before I can fully get on board

.
And, let's be real, creating a unified 911 dispatch system and training more first responders in crisis intervention strategies is just common sense

. It's about time we recognize the importance of mental health in our communities

. But, what really gets me is that this whole thing started with Sonya Massey's tragic death

. I hope that her family's fight for justice and reform doesn't get lost in the shuffle

.
One thing that does give me hope is Sontae Massey's attitude

. She's all about making a promise of change, not just passing the buck

. If we can get more folks like her to speak up and push for real reform, I think we might actually see some progress
