Coyote Sighting Sparks Concern in Miami Springs Neighborhood

Resident Yolanda Sauer was left shaken after spotting a coyote lurking behind her home, sending her and her family into high alert. According to Sauer, she witnessed several police officers gathering near her house when she heard about the sighting, and they confirmed that a very aggressive coyote had been spotted in her backyard.

The chaos unfolded at around 10 am on Friday morning, just as Sauer would normally take out her teacup chihuahua for its morning walk. However, it was not her dog that posed a threat but rather the coyote's encounter with their pet tortoise, Bubble. Surveillance footage shows the coyote approaching and staring down the tortoise before turning around and leaving.

The Sauer family is now concerned about their pets' safety, particularly their African sulcata tortoises, which they keep in their backyard. "We have to keep our pets indoors as much as possible," said Charles, Yolanda's son and neighbor. His statement echoed the recommendation from the Miami Springs Police Department, which advised residents to keep a safe distance from coyotes by making loud noises when encountering them.

In light of this incident, residents in the area are now on high alert, with many expressing concern about their children's safety while playing outdoors afternoons. "I don't want to see it hurt but I don't want to see a child hurt either," said Yolanda Sauer.

Fortunately, the coyote has since been captured by the Miami Springs Police Department, and residents are assured that there is no longer any danger in the area. However, for many like the Sauers, the experience left a lasting impression, highlighting the importance of being vigilant about wildlife safety.

๐Ÿบ๐Ÿ˜ฑ coyotes are getting too close to homes ๐Ÿ ๐ŸŒณ it's scaring people and pets ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿข gotta keep our furry friends safe indoors more often ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ’• the police should do more patrols at night when coyotes are most active ๐ŸŒƒ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ let's all look out for each other ๐Ÿ‘ซ๐Ÿ’•

omg can u imagine spotting a coyote behind ur own home? i feel so bad for Yolanda and her fam, esp with those poor African sulcata tortoises ๐Ÿข๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ. it's like, good on the cops for catching that coyote tho ๐Ÿ˜Š. but for real, it's crazy how close we live to wildlife in Miami Springs and u gotta be prepared for these situations ๐ŸŒณ. i mean, loud noises when encountering a coyote sounds like a reasonable precaution, but what about during nighttime walks or when kids are playing outside? ๐Ÿค” those ppl need some additional guidance from the city, imo ๐Ÿ‘€

this is so crazy ๐Ÿคฏ i mean i've heard of coyotes being spotted before but never thought it'd be in my own neighborhood lol. like what's next? raccoons with lasers or something? ๐Ÿ˜‚ anyway seriously though, gotta give props to the Miami Springs Police Department for taking action ASAP and getting that coyote caught... hope those african sulcata tortoises are safe from now on ๐Ÿข๐Ÿ™

omg ๐Ÿคฏ just saw this news about coyotes in miami springs and i'm low-key freaking out ๐Ÿ˜ฑ my dog would literally freak if he saw that thing!!! can you imagine having to keep your pets indoors 24/7 just because of some wild animal? ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ˜ฉ the cops are saying to make loud noises when you see a coyote, but like what if it doesn't care?! ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ i'm glad they caught that coyote tho ๐Ÿ™ now we can all breathe a sigh of relief... or maybe not, because who knows when another one will show up ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿ˜ฌ anyway, just remember to be safe out there, miami springs residents! ๐Ÿ’•

๐Ÿคฃ so a coyote shows up at someone's house and now everyone's all high alert... I mean I get it, pets and kids are important, but let's be real, how often do you actually see a coyote just chillin' in the suburbs? ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ˜‚ like, this is Miami Springs, not the Wild West. And btw, a teacup chihuahua vs a tortoise is basically the ultimate underdog story... ๐Ÿพ๐ŸฆŽ

its crazy how one little sighting can turn an entire neighborhood into high alert ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐ŸŒณ coyotes are just wild animals and we should keep them in mind when living near their habitats ๐Ÿšจ but also gotta feel for the Sauer fam, they're worried about their pets and kids' safety ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ’• a diagram to illustrate this situation would be a good map with a coyote in the middle, surrounded by a house, backyard, and pet tortoises ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ  maybe a warning sign on the side that says "be aware of wildlife" ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ’ก

๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ˜จ omg I can imagine how scary that must've been for you Yolanda ๐Ÿคฏ like what if the coyote had seen your dog first?! ๐Ÿ˜จ anyway i totally get why u're all worried now ๐Ÿค” those african sulcata tortoises are super vulnerable to predators ๐ŸŒฟ and it's not just pets, kids playing outside is also a major concern ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ we need to be more aware of our surroundings & make sure we take precautions ๐Ÿšจ like keeping trash cans secure & not leaving food out ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ anyway glad the coyote got caught & u can finally relax ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’ค

OMG u guys ๐Ÿคฏ I'm so late to this thread but OMG! Coyotes in Miami Springs?! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ That's crazy talk! I mean I've heard of coyotes being aggressive before but this is just wild. And poor Bubble the tortoise! ๐Ÿข๐Ÿ˜ณ I feel for the Sauer family, they're definitely keeping their pets indoors from now on. Loud noises when you see a coyote? Like what exactly do u make loud noise with? A can of beans or something? ๐Ÿ˜‚ Just kidding, kinda. But seriously though, these things are unpredictable and you gotta be prepared. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ I'm glad the police caught the coyote but yeah, this is def not a good look for Miami Springs. They need to step up their wildlife control game ASAP. ๐Ÿ’ช

Ugh, this reminds me of when I was a kid and we had to worry about raccoons raiding our trash cans all the time ๐Ÿป. My mom would always say "keep your pets indoors, it's not worth the risk". Now, people are worried about coyotes showing up at their backyards too. It just feels like we're living in a never-ending horror movie where wildlife is getting bolder and more aggressive ๐ŸŽฌ. I mean, what's next? Squirrels taking over our houses? ๐Ÿ˜‚ Anyway, glad the coyote got caught and all, but can't help feeling a little uneasy when I see those surveillance videos of them just strolling around like they own the place...๐Ÿ˜ณ

๐Ÿคฃ Just had to read this news, what's next? Coyotes on Zoom calls and asking to play with our kids? ๐Ÿ˜‚ Like seriously though, can we just say it's not the first time coyotes have been spotted in Miami Springs, but I guess now everyone gets a free lesson on wildlife safety... again ๐Ÿ™„. Anyway, glad no humans got hurt (this time), and I hope those African sulcata tortoises are all good after that close encounter with the hungry coyote ๐Ÿข๐Ÿ’ค. Maybe we should just start a pet-sitting business for exotic animals instead of watching cat vids on YouTube ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜น
