I'm not sure if governments are taking a strong enough stance on addressing shark conservation...
I mean, think about it - our beaches are basically tourist attractions now, and with more people comes more risk. We need to balance economic growth with marine safety, but we can't just slap some nets and drumlines around the coast and expect everything to be okay
The Greens make a point about shark nets not working... I think they're onto something. But is it too simplistic? What if we combined eco-tourism with education and research initiatives? That way, people could learn more about sharks and how to coexist with them, rather than just fearing them
