Tonight's TV highlights include a gripping new series of 999 that delves into the complex world of knotty crime cases. The show opens with two intense investigations: one in Suffolk where a man fatally stabs a suspected thief outside his house, while another in Hertfordshire where a car belonging to a woman reported for drug dealing is found on fire.

These are no ordinary crimes - nothing is straightforward and the police find themselves unraveling a web of lies, stalking, and deceit. The episode ends with a lead that points to someone under a protection order, setting the stage for what promises to be a thrilling series.

If you're in the mood for something more serious, 24 Hours in Police Custody offers a glimpse into one of the UK's worst serial paedophiles, Carson Grimes. After new accusations surface, officers launch a fresh inquiry and are inundated with tales of previous victims, as well as a troubling discovery of bones near his old home.

Later on, fans of Dark Winds will be happy to know that it's back for its season finale. Navajo cop Joe (Zahn McClarnon) and Gordo (A Martinez) may have just had a moment of reflective calm before the action ratchets up in this 70s-set drama adapted from Tony Hillerman's book series.

Comedy fans can enjoy Live at the Apollo, which features Tom Davis introducing rising star Kae Kurd, alongside Newcastle standup Louise Young. There's also Lucia Keskin's Things You Should Have Done on BBC Three, a deadpan sitcom that just gets funnier with the addition of Bridget Christie as a dodgy therapist.

The night wraps up with another episode of Feral, which was shortlisted at the Edinburgh comedy awards.
 
😒 I mean, what's with all these true crime shows? Back in my day, we didn't need all that drama to keep us on the edge of our seats... or whatever it is people do nowadays 🤷‍♂️. Just give me a good old fashioned Agatha Christie mystery any day out! And don't even get me started on these serial killers... I remember watching my first Sherlock Holmes movie when I was like 10 and that was enough for me 😂. Now it's all about gruesome details and graphic violence... what happened to the Golden Age of detective fiction? 🙄
 
I'm watching these police dramas and it's like how we used to do in '99 when I'd watch 'Cops' on TV - you know, back then it was all about the thrill of it all... but now it seems so much darker, more realistic? Like, what's with all this serial killer stuff? In my day, if someone did something bad, they'd be caught in no time. Nowadays it's like they're playing a game, you know? And these detectives... always getting in over their heads... reminds me of that one show 'The X-Files' we used to watch with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson - the way Mulder would unravel conspiracies was just so captivating! 😊

Meh, I don't know why they gotta make crime shows so intense 🤯. Like, can't we just watch some funny stuff for a change? I'm not really into all that dark stuff. But I guess if you're into that sorta thing, 999 sounds pretty good. And it's only an episode or two in, so maybe it'll get more interesting. On the other hand, I kinda feel bad for the victims and their families 🤕. That serial paedophile guy, Carson Grimes, is seriously creepy. Can't believe they're gonna be investigating him again 😱. Maybe we can look at this as a way to keep these kinds of people from harming others?

We've seen a lot of similar shows in the past that have been more focused on the thrill of it all rather than actual depth and insight. Still, if they're gonna make it gripping with some leads pointing to someone under a protection order, I'm kinda curious now 😊. And that Dark Winds season finale is definitely looking like something I'll be watching... Navajo cop Joe always has my attention! 👮‍♂️

I've been watching the trailer for 999 and I'm hooked! The way they weave together these complex crimes is like trying to solve a puzzle while the pieces keep shifting.
