UK supermarkets push for Amazon soy safeguards after traders abandon ban

man this is wild 🤯 the fact that the big supermarkets are literally holding up the entire soybean trade over the amazon rainforest is crazy... i mean on one hand it's awesome that they're taking a stand for the environment, but at the same time it feels like they're just trying to save face after all those years of not doing enough 🙅‍♂️

and can we talk about how the brazilian agribusiness lobby is just a total disaster? i mean come on guys, you're basically getting sued by a bunch of supermarkets for not following some basic environmental rules... that's not exactly the kind of "free market" I was hoping for 🤦‍♂️

anyway, i guess it's better late than never, and if the retailers can somehow make this work it could actually be a game-changer for the amazon. but let's be real, it's gonna take a lot more than just some empty letters from supermarkets to make a difference... we need real action, not just PR 💔
